Happy 150 college football! - Love and Honor - 11-06-2019 06:49 PM

Today is the exact sesquicentennial of the first college football game, Rutgers-Princeton on November 6th, 1869. If you feel like celebrating by watching football, the Miami-Ohio MACtion game is at 7:00 CST on ESPN2.

Miami will go for its first road win against OU since 2005 tonight. The victor will likely win the MAC East; if either of us come out on top we'd have a game lead, head-to-head tiebreaker on the other teams in contention, and just one tough game (on paper) remaining.

Has anyone asked Lou Holtz what he remembers from when he saw that first game in person?

It would be awesome if Rutgers and Princeton played today. To bad it wasn’t setup to be so.

Agreed. Actually Princeton is undefeated, ranked ninth in FCS, and has a seventeen game winning streak; while I wouldn't pencil them in for a sure victory against Rutgers if they were playing, it'd probably be close at the very least.

And Miami celebrates with a 24-21 win. Here's to another 150 years.

Perhaps another 6-4 game, for old time's sake?
