The good news is you guys will be preseason favorites to win the NFC again next year.
Even with their crappy underachieving QB. All seriousness, the dude hasn't been the same post injury

He’s no Romo and I told everybody this. We need “ The Great #9” back at the helm!

Jerry Jones is going to be tempted to fire McCarthy, but he should sell out for a championship next year. Sign Brady or trade Dak to GB for Rodgers. Get the QB position right, re-sign Pollard and give Lamb a complimentary WR. Dak is just not good enough.

Pollard Broke his fibula. So who knows if he's going to be the same or how long it's gonna take to recover.

That is awful. He was set for a big contract. Hate to see that!

They have an out on Dak's contract but not until after 2023 (and 2025-2026 are void years). Dak is locked in as the Week 1 starter next season. The dead money hit for trading Dak this offseason would be something crazy like $58M or something. Not happening. It's not much better after the 2023 season but it would be more palatable.

What Jerry NEEDS to be doing in the meantime is doing everything in his power to go get Sean Payton. Then let Payton decide who the QB will be in 2024, whether that's Dak or someone else.

Yep, so, even worse they have a ton of money tied up in under performing Zeke and Dak, and if they commit anything to Pollard it's also a big question mark.

Good info! Payton will be able to pick his spot this offseason and Dallas will certainly spend. Doesn't look like the Chargers are going to fire Staley, so Dallas may be the best situation.

The hardest position to get right is QB. They can give up their first for Payton and still find a RB in any round.

Yep. Money is no object to Jerry (and coaches of course don't count against the cap), while draft picks don't mean much to him either. He isn't getting any younger. Payton is the guy he HAS to get at this point. Or maybe even Harbaugh?

Payton has overseen 7 of the top 35 offenses (by yardage) in NFL history, including the # 1 all-time. He's the prize of this offseason more than even the QBs that will be available.

How much of that is him vs having a generational QB? I don't debate he's probably a great coach but he had Brees for most if not all his time.

Pats coach or was it Brady? Wainwright or was it Blizzard? Questions that keep us all up at night.

I think I can answer the UNCW question.

Those situations are tough to Answer for sure? If you'd had asked me that question before Brady left NE i'd have said Billy, but since Tom went elsewhere and won a title and the Pats have been mediocre? Anyways, point being, Payton had Brees and Dak couldn't hold Brees's jock. So, would he really make a difference in Dallas?

So then, is the question really Brownell? He was Wainright's Xs and Os man. And he continued the success after Wainwright and Blizzard left.

Brownell has to be considered a huge part of that run, no doubt.

Bricks, a lot of chirping about trading Fields and building a team around Young. What do you think?

I think it's just noise. I expect teams to be interested in Fields, but it doesn't make any sense for Chicago to start over with a QB like Young. I think the chatter is largely due to the time of the year...football is king, but there are no games and we are a few weeks out from free agency...they have to have something to talk about. Secondly, I think Chicago is probably feeding the media some of the nonsense. We're better positioned if the possibility of Chicago taking Young seems real. Ultimately, their goal is to drive the asking price to trade down as high as possible.

Regardless of how you feel about Fields, Chicago has to give him another year. Trading with Indy seems like the most likely scenario, and in addition to swapping 1st round picks this year, a trade would likely include Indy's 1st next year. If Chicago improves their OL, gives Fields another weapon at WR, and he still has trouble with accuracy, Chicago has Indy's 1st in 2024 (which will most likely be a top 10 pick with a better QB class).

RE: 2019-2022 NFL Regular Season - bricksnivy - 03-02-2023 09:49 AM

Well, Jalen Carter getting arrested certainly hurts the trade back scenarios. I still think that is the move, and Indy still makes a lot of sense, but the draft has gone from a clear cut top 4, to a clear top 3. Maybe it makes a deal with Carolina more appealing?
