Josh Allen and the Bills picked up where they left off, but even better. They left of with an L, so, they played much better RE: 2019-2021 NFL Regular Season - bricksnivy - 09-09-2022 08:43 AM Bills are a fun team. I think they run away with the AFC East this year. Not much competition there. I hope the Pats continue to improve an i think they will be decent, but, definitely not in the same level as the Bills as was clearly shown in the playoffs last year. Will be interesting to see if they can continue and take the next step. Von Miller looks rejuvenated on an a D that was already pretty great. That's scary for opposing QBs RE: 2019-2021 NFL Regular Season - bricksnivy - 09-11-2022 07:10 PM Bear Down Chicago Bears 2019-2021 NFL Regular Season - B_Hawk06 - 09-11-2022 09:49 PM This post is meant as a welfare check for Bill. Either way, same old Cowboys. Huge expectations only to dash them quickly in Week 1. McCarthy isn’t the guy to take the team on a deep playoff run. Even in a weakened NFC. And the other 3 NFC East teams all looked very good today. And yeah, my Jets suck, in case anyone wanted to use this opportunity to remind me their team is better. I already know, lol. Whoaaa, them sliding into the endzone in the pouring rain looked like a lot of fun! It was a really satisfying win yesterday. I know Chicago isn't a playoff team, but for the past three months they've been beaten by the national media as the "worst roster in the NFL". Mike Martz said it was the worst roster since the 2008 Lions. Being 7 point dogs at home to Trey Lance was disrespectful too. I don't know why that narrative was so popular, but it was frustrating to hear everyone repeat it. We're in year 1 of a rebuild and Ryan Poles seems to have a solid vision. I think we win 6-7 games this year and hopefully we have a QB to build around. The slip-n-slide celebration looked liked fun, but I'm onboard with the dome in Arlington Heights. Whoaaa, them sliding into the endzone in the pouring rain looked like a lot of fun! Ryan Clark said this morning on Get Up that if you're SF and you're drafting a QB based on potential, you should draft the better athlete that played in the B1G. Fields looked better yesterday (neither were great), but it is also year 1 for Lance. Leaving Soldier Field will be tough. It's really cool having the stadium on the lake in downtown Chicago, but the Bears deserve state of the art and Chicago Parks and Rec isn't able to give them that. Mayor Lightfoot tried to bluff the Bears, but she really didn't have a hand to play at all. Bears don't control Soldier Field and there are financial opportunities if they build a dome in the burbs. The turf is a problem annually, but supposedly it was in better shape heading into yesterday. Yep, the Cowboys suck on offense. Offensive line has injuries along with wide receivers. Dak had no chance but didn’t look good himself. The defense wasn’t terrible. Just not a good team right now. And, the Jets are who we thought they were. Hopefully they will finally figure it out. Jets fans deserve it. I enjoyed reading our rookie QB discussion from last year. This isn't a victory lap; personally I still want to wait to the end of year 3 to really evaluate the group, but it's more fun to reflect after a good Fields' performance. The consensus top two from last year were Mac and Mills with Fields being the worst. 7 weeks into year two and Houston is scouting their next QB (which is not crazy since Mills was an expected bright spot last year and didn't have the hype of the other 4), Mac's been benched for rookie with a low ceiling and Fields is getting better week-by-week. I still like the QB class based on potential. Lawrence is probably still my favorite, followed by Fields and then Wilson. RE: 2019-2022 NFL Regular Season - bricksnivy - 10-26-2022 11:15 AM One other thought, as much as I dislike the undeserved attention Dallas gets, I really like the 2022 Cowboys team. Feels like they're legit this year and I can easily see them in the NFC Champ game. I have Fields in a dynasty league. Fields certainly looks better this year, specifically the last 3-4 weeks. But he could only go up from last year. I'm interested to see how long he lasts before he starts getting hurt. History isn't on his side when it comes to QBs with that style. Mac has been hurt, will give him the benefit of the doubt until i see what he does the rest of the season. I have Fields in a dynasty league. I won't deny the timing of message has everything to do with this week's game, but it's not a victory lap in the sense that I truly believe all 4 (excluding Mills) deserve 3 years before we know exactly what we have. My excitement this week stems from the Bears looking competent as a team and coaching staff. It's been a long time since I could say that. I still really like Fields, but I see some of the flaws too. I just think he's too talented not to be a top 15 QB if they simply call the game to his strengths and allow him to develop those flaws. In terms of injury, I'm more worried about the OL than I am his playing style. On top of my optimism, Green Bay sucks and Rodgers is playing poorly. As a Bears fan, can I finally look forward to a season next year where GB is starting a first ballot HOF QB? Would be the first time since 1992 I think. Chicago probably loses 4 of the next 5 and Sunday against Dallas could be ugly. RE: 2019-2022 NFL Regular Season - billthebighawksfan - 10-30-2022 08:46 PM Bears have a good offense rolling now. Fields is for real and is a problem for opposing defenses. Future looks good for the Bears. Cowboys had a hard time today stopping them and they have a very good defense so I see them continuing to roll on offense against almost everyone. Fields and the offense continued their progression and they lost thus moving up to 12th in the current projected draft order. It was a good day in a tank season. NFC picture is starting to take shape. Philly and Dallas are top shelf, Minnesota and SF are starting to emerge as potential threats and Seattle remain intriguing (sum is better than the parts, so I'm impressed, but don't think they're contenders). Personally, I'd remove the Vikings too and handicap it as a three team race in the NFC. My week 8 power rankings: 1. Bills 2. Chiefs 3. Eagles 4. Cowboys 5. Bengals 6. 49ers 7. Vikings 8. Seahawks |
