lol. MLB is the most de-valued position in the NFL these days (behind RB), with minimal impact on the game, and Jerry just had to make sure he was first to take one in this draft.

And he did so even with Vander Esch having the 11th-highest salary on the team to handle that spot, after Jones had just used a # 19 overall pick on him a mere 3 years ago. Plus he also used a 2016 2nd rounder on current starting WLB Jaylon Smith. What a terrible use of draft resources.

The last 5 seasons, the Cowboys have quietly been the worst drafting team in the NFL. Have fun with that.

This take is awful and clearly written by someone who hates the Cowboys.

Hopefully so, but it’s been a long time.

I don’t go in to any season for a team I support to not win. Do you?

Difference between wanting your team to win and actually thinking they will.... every year... then they don’t. It’s called being realistic

Not all Cowboys fans are entitled therefore don’t want to get lumped in as being that. They need to get a decent defense going before even thinking about winning consistently. It has certainly been frustrating to watch as a fan. And even though Dak has grown on me, we don’t have the great one, #9, to pull out games by himself anymore.

I don't think it's about being entitled as much as thinking your team is going to the SB every year. You were guilty of it last year.

I don't want to pile on Bill. I don't hate Dallas...they're probably bottom 5 for me, but it is mostly media driven. With Romo, it seems like they were predicted to the Super Bowl every year despite a reasonable fan being able to see their holes and teams that were superior. Cowboys' fans buy into the hype and then talk a lot, so people enjoy the inevitable fall. They've had some good teams, but their dynasty ended 25 years ago. I don't get why the narrative around them is still always so inflated, but that is just me.

Anyway, none of that has anything to do with Nation's evaluation. The dismissal that he is "just a hater" comes across as fan talk and blind optimism much more than Nation's initial thought comes across as bitter rival.

As a Bears fan, our LB legacy is probably stronger than any other franchise, but the game has changed. The LB position is the lowest paid on defense for a reason. With the game becoming spread out and stretched horizontally, edge rushers and cornerbacks are much more important.

The problem with the Romo era is that they were considered perennial NFC favorites, but in reality they were 3-5 in the playoffs during that time and never made it past the divisional round. My point is, people don't hate the Cowboys, they hate the annual overhype. Then when people laugh, or simply point out their flaws as what happened to start this discussion, they're called haters. No one is jealous of Jerral Wayne.

You're spot on here, especially considering SN08 is a jets fan and he's always looking up at the Bills, Patriots, and sometimes Dophins. He doesn't hate the Cowboys, he's just like the rest of us that take a look at the NFC East and have a good chuckle.

It's not that anyone actually dislikes the Cowboys, it's that annual inflation of talent and expectations in Dallas that has been around since they were REALLY good in the mid 1990s. Not to poke at Bill, because he's a great fella and one of our long time members here, but I disagree with anything that would insinuate Romo was "Great". IMO, he was a slightly above average NFL QB. The fact that while he was playing half the Dallas fan base wanted him gone should easily dismiss him as a "great". The last "great" QB in Dallas was Aikman, and it's not even close. Hell, Romo got injured and a relatively unknown Dak Prescott came in and EASILY took his job... that should be enough to dismiss that delusion. I want to reiterate though, that I don't dislike Romo. I think he was good, and better than most. I'm just talking from an outsider's more objective opinion here.

Also... I was just messing with our JMU friend there. It would be cool though, if he's gonna have an opinion to I dunno... defend it. lol

I’m neutral on the Cowboys. They’ve been irrelevant for 3 decades. I don’t care enough about them to be a hater. Nice try to get sympathy though. "America's team" sure has some soft fans. Doesn't sound like you watch much football these days, that's for sure.

99+ % of Cowboys fans have never been to Dallas.

Cowboys fans are overly sensitive, whiny caricatures at this point. Such a shame. You used to be a respectable fan base. All that's left are a bunch of babies who can't handle a modicum of warranted criticism about your team.

All of this is accurate.

If one is upset about a legitimate point demonstrating Jerry has no idea what he's doing, and thinks it has no merit.... Then counter the point. Don't be a baby and dismiss people as "haters" to try to change the topic. It's pathetic.
