I think Mark Schlereth is full of it. As soon as he posted that it was "a done deal" Ben Albright said, Is it a possibility? Absolutely yes. Is it done? Absolutely not. With the Broncos, I haven't seen anyone more connected that Albright. A lot of people hate him, but he's pretty accurate. I think Denver will pursue it as hard as they can, but moving Aaron Rodgers is a huge risk and there's not an indication that Love is ready to take over. It would have been more questionable at 3 IMO. But, I don't disagree with the Lance pick, but who knows, he could be the next 08's favorite QB Josh Allen from a school like that. 08 had more spirited debates about how bad he was and would be than i ever have about Fields. I am fully on board with the idea that, in today's game, the potential rewards of an athletic freak at QB outweigh the injury risks and other potential downsides (I.E. leaning on that athleticism too heavily). Lance is very much in Allen's category in terms of elite athleticism. I was wrong to discount Allen's skillset, but to be fair, he did look terrible as a thrower for nearly all of his first 2 seasons. My lesson learned is that patience is a virtue with someone that gifted. Better late than never I suppose, both in terms of his development AND my willingness to come around on that point. So with that in mind, yes, I think Lance and Fields are elite QB prospects much like Allen would be much higher up on my board if he was in this year's draft instead of 2018, even with the same or similar collegiate resume as he had at Wyoming. MLB is the most de-valued position in the NFL these days (behind RB), with minimal impact on the game, and Jerry just had to make sure he was first to take one in this draft. And he did so even with Vander Esch having the 11th-highest salary on the team to handle that spot, after Jones had just used a # 19 overall pick on him a mere 3 years ago. Plus he also used a 2016 2nd rounder on current starting WLB Jaylon Smith. What a terrible use of draft resources. The last 5 seasons, the Cowboys have quietly been the worst drafting team in the NFL. Have fun with that. RE: 2019-2020 NFL Regular Season - billthebighawksfan - 05-01-2021 09:56 AM I dunno Nation. Kiper said this guy is very good and the best defensive player overall. We have gone all defense for good reason. Clearly the direction the game is moving. How clever of Jerry to zig while others zag. RE: 2019-2020 NFL Regular Season - billthebighawksfan - 05-01-2021 12:37 PM The corner was already taken and we have had MLB injury issues. RE: 2019-2020 NFL Regular Season - bricksnivy - 05-03-2021 10:33 AM I've never been more pumped for a Bears draft in my life. Bears' fans were miserable and hopeless last Thursday. What Pace and Nagy did in the draft was really our best case scenario. A lot of people/mock drafts/bloggers mentioned Tevin Jenkins as the Bears pick at 20. It feels good to come away with Fields and Jenkins. I realize that draft grades are meaningless, but I'm pretty excited to see a lot of people pointing to Chicago as having the best overall draft. Hope has been restored in Chicago and that isn't a yearly, post-draft feeling. Fields was my # 2 QB on the board. Wanted him in New York over Wilson. You guys didn't overthink it and made the exact big splash you needed to. And I think its going to work out great. You've quickly come a long way from the Bears Twitter calling Andy Dalton "QB1". 2019-2020 NFL Regular Season - Seahawkhoops - 05-03-2021 06:52 PM (05-03-2021 06:16 PM)Seahawk Nation 08 Wrote:(05-03-2021 10:33 AM)bricksnivy Wrote: I've never been more pumped for a Bears draft in my life. Read today too that Minnesota was ready to take him at 14, so had they not traded it wouldn’t have been possible. Bricks you should be very scared that 08 wanted him. His track record with Qbs is slightly sub par :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: 2019-2020 NFL Regular Season - Seahawk Nation 08 - 05-03-2021 08:20 PM (05-03-2021 06:52 PM)Seahawkhoops Wrote:(05-03-2021 06:16 PM)Seahawk Nation 08 Wrote:(05-03-2021 10:33 AM)bricksnivy Wrote: I've never been more pumped for a Bears draft in my life. Yes, getting Fields and knowing Minnesota wanted him is cherry on top. Vikings and Lions received high marks also. Green Bay losing Rodgers would be perfect. AFC would be fun if Rodgers lands in Denver. The “QB1” tweet was something. Felt like the social media was trolling Pace but it was depressing. 2019-2020 NFL Regular Season - B_Hawk06 - 05-03-2021 09:55 PM I know there’s still time for it, but I just don’t see the Packers trading away Rodgers. Unlikely, but if he’s as unhappy as reported he can force their hand. Less chance of getting sacked. Or, what if NBC fireS some random staffer that he's friends with? For Rodgers to be pissed that they cut Jake Kumerow is ridiculous. I'm not a GB apologist; I hope they trade him and suck for the next 50 years, but a GM should be able to cut a guy with 20 career touches without permission from his QB. I saw this on Twitter, but Rodgers had previously said that the franchise and front office was "like family". Little did we know that this meant he intended to divorce them and never speak to them again. 2019-2020 NFL Regular Season - tke75hawk - 05-04-2021 11:16 AM I think rogers stays in green bay. If he retires he still has 2 years on his contract with green bay. I feel he still wants to set records and play in super bowl Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk RE: 2019-2020 NFL Regular Season - B_Hawk06 - 05-04-2021 03:20 PM It's no secret that Rodgers is a bit of a drama queen. It doesn't surprise me that some small issue he turns into a melt down of sorts, but I doubt there's enough there for GB to trade him or him to go off to a place like Denver. He stands a lot more to lose by doing so under these circumstances, potentially doing significant damage to his legacy. |
