I attended the Nats-Mets game yesterday and between innings the Nats had a video segment called "Down on the Farm". The whole spiel (about 20-30 seconds) focused on Nick Raquet. Apparently he is doing well in the Nats' farm system.

Yesterday the team held its first on-field offense/defense rotations. Day before that they had Fall hitter assessments with Blast Motion and Rapsodo systems.

WMTribeBaseball tweeted a picture of the coaches using Rapsodo to get in depth velocity/spin/movement data for pitchers throwing bullpens. If you zoom in the name on the iPad screen is Andrew Marra. I don’t know who that is (a grad transfer from Lafayette? http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/profile.asp?ID=200448) but he’s throwing 92.6 mph.

WM scrimmaged Longwood in Farmville yesterday. Freshman Ryan McKenna hit a grand slam in his first at-bat.

Rosters for this weekend’s series have been released:

Besides the aforementioned Lafayette grad transfer pitcher Andrew Marra there is another new name: catcher Carlos Garrido. Garrido appears to be a grad transfer from Longwood.

RE: 2020 Baseball Season - nj alum - 10-29-2019 08:34 AM

UVa, ECU and ODU should appear on the non-conference portion of the schedules of all Tribe sports. It is mutually beneficial, especially given the travel involved in the conference schedules.

Of course, this is also true of VCU and Richmond, for the same reasons, but those schools view us differently.

Glad to see baseball is playing at ECU. Wonderful venue and great atmosphere.

Go Tribe!

RE: 2020 Baseball Season - nj alum - 11-18-2019 04:41 PM

That is a fine schedule! Richmond. VCU. VPI. UVa. Norfolk. Mason. GW. ECU. Duke. Clemson. West Va. G’town. Maryland.

The money at stake re: the Dance prevents MBB from having the baseball team’s type of schedule. A true shame for all college sports’ fans.

We can play those schools in baseball, but not basketball. Tells you all that you need to know re: the corruption that surrounds MBB and the NCAA.

RE: 2020 Baseball Season - Zorch - 11-18-2019 05:41 PM

Interesting that games against UVa and Tech (and Duke) are single games away, whereas at least our series at Clemson and ECU are 3 games each. We play VCU, ODU, Norfolk St., GW, and Maryland both home and away. We play George Mason and Richmond only at Plumeri (as NJ Alum said, this schedule won't happen in MBB). We play 3 three-games series against some northern schools who are probably desperate for some warmer weather games (Merrimack, UMass-Lowell, Fairleigh Dickinson). One very interesting thing that I am not sure that I have ever seen before is a 3-day stretch of playing 3 games --- but against 3 different opponents (Wagner, WVU, Georgetown). I didn't see anything annotated on the schedule denoting it as a round-robin tournament or anything like that. Maybe all three teams are coming/going from/to someplace else and just wanted to stop in town to pick up a game.

Terrific home schedule. With a fine freshmen recruit group coming in to supplement a good veteran returning
array this should be a very interesting season.

I listened to this interview with Coach Murphy from a couple of days ago. Strain is a little banged up and will not pitch this weekend. Farrell will start Friday, Saturday is TBD, and Cone starts Sunday.
