Ladd Stadium was built many years ago for a place for the University of Alabama to come down to Mobile to spread the Alabama brand. Very few college football games were on tv in those days. At the time it was bigger than Bryant Denny. What the article fails to mention is Ladd is still home for the senior bowl game and dollar general bowl game. They will likely move to South's on campus stadium. About 7,000 seats are covered up for USA's game making the capacity around 33,000. At Ladd our fill rate is about 48%. With our new stadium holding only 25,000, our fill rate will be much higher.

I am too lazy to read the article and do the math but if done on a percentage basis what would it look like. SB is sitting at 40% it seems. However I am not to lazy to care and ask and then type out the question.

That’s a weird way to look at attendance. The article should have been titled, “Who’s stadium looks fuller”.

I know we are less then a month away from kickoff, but that is a middle of the summer article if I’ve ever seen one.

I think the article should be about butts in a seat vs % of full in a stadium

The idea assumes the venue corresponds with fan support and full/empty stadiums = fan support. Obvious outliers but the numbers do tell the story in some cases.

Wow...so
41.6% of MAC schools
40.0% of Sun Belt schools

35.7% of CUSA schools
33.3% of AAC schools
33.3% of MWC schools

Of course, as noted, this type of data is so useless. Some schools have better attendance but stadiums that are far too large for their needs. Some schools have lower attendance but have stadiums that are far too small for their needs.

Is there going to be standing room for the Troy games?

Seems like I remember there being something about temp seating for those games. Honestly, wouldn’t mind seeing that game to continue being in Ladd if we are going to to get 30k+ for that game. But I think the new home will do just fine and to have that game on campus will be amazing.

Also hope we finally start winning consistently and have a need to expand within the not so distant future.

2019 is it for Ladd, unless there is something majorly wrong with Hancock Whitney. Having the Troy game on campus will get people on campus to show the improvements over the years. If they miss out by not getting tickets, too bad. This will also help not let the Troy fans from over taken the stadium like last year. There will be GA tickets to hangout in the Terrace area. The game has been midweek, so there won't be 40k people there midweek. Troy travels well to Mobile that has helped boost the attendance for us.
