Dixie State added to NMSU 2021 FB schedule - TardisCaptain - 05-29-2019 01:31 PM

We were just talking about this in another thread.

NMSU is the third FBS school to add Dixie State to a future schedule. Dixie is visiting BYU in 2022 and Colorado State in 2023.

FCS teams beware of Dixie is going to grow quickly. St George is rich and motivated.

I think they'll be on par with SUU as far as on the field results. It wasn't long until SUU was competitive, I think DSU follows suit.

I think they also struggle on the hardwood like SUU does. By going D1 FB, they have to put all their eggs (resources) into that basket.

I think they are going to do well. They already have a good D2 athletic program. They are less than 400 miles from Los Angeles, about 410 miles from Phoenix, 300 miles from Salt Lake City and 120 miles from Las Vegas. There is enough talent in those areas to field good, competitive, athletic teams. It just comes down to recruiting and developing the talent.

Essentially the same thing for SUU and they have struggled in pretty much everything outside of FB. Maybe DSU makes better hires or finds better/more funding. We'll see, doesn't change my opinion of the WAC adding DSU being a good thing.

Dixie State will probably be better in the WAC & as FCS independent than SUU in the Big Sky. But Dixie State has 9 games schedule, and only 2 of them are home games. 2021 doesn't look promising either.

I think St. George gets a better rap than Cedar City because of the warm weather climate & larger growth.

They will be ok - first few years will be tough because of how far out teams have OOC commitments already.

NAU is doing an 8-game home and home with Dixie, but it couldn't start until 2023 because NAU had OOC schedule through 2022 already done.
