Tulsa offered another 2021 in-state 4-star prospect over the weekend, and a few others impressed in AAU action.

Glad to see us going after good in-state prospects. Is the kid a really good shooter? I don't have that subscription money to get the full article.

Trey Phipps is our shooter. Kid will fill it up. Getting Bryce Thompson would help with that too. Kid is a scorer. These are good signs that Haith is making in roads with the local kids and competitive teams, we're showing up more and more with them.

It would be awesome to get Bryce Thompson, but I'm considering that a long shot right now. It's hard to beat offers from places like Kansas (if it's a legit offer).

I did see we got the big Center yesterday. That's awesome and very promising.

We'll see. He and Rod are very close. He had his dad's state championship ring till he earned his own. It's his Dad's school, where he had NCAA success, it's his home town, with a coach he has known his whole life. For a kid who has been working hard to walk in those footsteps and lay down his own marker that's a lot of pull. With us getting Trey that can only help. It's not even so much he is a player, it's what it means to get a kid like that to stay home. Its sets a tone for the program.

The big man is an awesome add, a piece we have been missing since we lost the big Aussie. Overall I like our last two years of recruiting. We have this giant junior class though. Need to bring a little more balance in but all the players seem to fit needs we have and look AAC quality.

No doubt, we do have a lot going for us with Thompson. If Haith had more success recruiting good local guys (out of high school) during his tenure I might be more optimistic. But we'll see. The 3 recent additions give me some hope that Haith can turn it around. And that's saying something because after the season we had this year, I was ready to just let his contract expire and look for someone else.

The guy did win a Big 12 title when he had good players, so hopefully the recruiting success translates to on-the-court success.

Very true.

I was right there with you. Not that Haith was terrible or even bad, he just isn't quite getting it done.

Will be interesting to see who he adds as the final assistant. You would have to think if it was Rod he would have been announced by now.

Next year Haith needs an at large type team and an NCAA win or it may not matter. This recruiting classes and the coaching changes will quiet down the faithful, but they will be more than restless if next year is not up to the level expected.

Big year for both our revenue sports as Monty finds himself in a similar spot. I like both coaches as people and hope they succeed with my heart. My brain however is skeptical and is always on about how much of a business competing at a high level is.

Yeah, the assistant hire will be interesting. I don't follow the basketball scene much, so I have not clue who it would be. I assume it would be someone who can really recruit.

I agree about the coaches. I'm feeling more optimistic than I was about both. I suppose time helps. Beating SMU in the football season finale, and Haith getting these recruits helps too.

I saw Barnes is transferring. I assume that's been coming, reading between the lines on the rivals free board. I hope we go get a freshman (Bryce Thompson?) to even out the classes.
