SoCon Tournament 2019 - arenafanatic - 03-04-2019 09:36 PM

The SoCon is going to be one of the best conference tournaments this year. So many teams are capable of winning the bid.

Who's your winner?

Who's your sleeper?

That's a tough one. To paraphrase Steve Forbes, the tournament is not wide open, no one has beaten Wofford.

Wofford is my winner with ETSU as the sleeper. ETSU has taken them to OT (although Pegram didn't play that game).

Wofford doesn't have the best talent in the conference, but they have the best team and their record is no fluke.

It's been a hell of a year in the SoCon. Too bad Greensboro couldn't pull it off. Would have been tremendous to have gotten two teams in, but perhaps if they can keep a couple of these coaches around, the league could continue to grow. I wonder if Charleston wishes they hadn't bolted to another perennial 1 bid league, with less schools nearby.

Would love to see the SoCon get two bids. Knowing the committee they won't be interested in that.

It appears the SoCon got screwed by the powers that be, to get a 3rd team in from the Pac 12, which only deserved one. Whereas, the SoCon probably deserved 2 or 3, but only got one.

The only thing I can say is if the coaches in the is conference that are worth a damn don't get plucked this offseason, it has a darn good chance of have multiple teams in discussion again next season. OOC schedules are so important, so I hope each program keeps this in mind. To me, if Chattanooga and Mercer can improve to former prowess, this could be a damn good league. How come no SoCon games on ESPNU this year? The OVC had about 4 I think. We are just as good as the OVC. They are top heavy, whereas the SoCon has depth. But they were rewarded with a second bid this year, while the SoCon was not.

Go Get em Terriers!
