Athlon: Ranking C-USA's Football Jobs - Side Show Joe - 02-27-2019 06:24 PM While I don't agree with all of the ranking (seems to me the salary and facilities would be larger factors), the comments are interesting. Thoughts? 14. Rice 13. UTEP 12. WKU 11. ODU 10. UTSA 9. Charlotte 8. FIU 7. UAB 6. MT 5. North Texas 4. Southern Miss 3. FAU 2. LA Tech 1. Marshall https://athlonsports.com/college-football/ranking-conference-usa-college-football-coaching-jobs-2019 RE: Athlon: Ranking C-USA's Football Jobs - THUNDERStruck73 - 02-27-2019 06:28 PM I would like to know how many categories were evaluated to form this opinion. RE: Athlon: Ranking C-USA's Football Jobs - ODU2011 - 02-27-2019 07:37 PM There was zero research done before this was written. RE: Athlon: Ranking C-USA's Football Jobs - blazerwkr - 02-27-2019 08:09 PM Athlon is P5/BCS centric so anyone outside of that, it's dart tossed at a dart board for rankings RE: Athlon: Ranking C-USA's Football Jobs - Magic95Fan - 02-27-2019 08:20 PM I think Western's rank on this list is the most egregious. I know how much stock you north Texas folks put in these rankings. RE: Athlon: Ranking C-USA's Football Jobs - Lizard Breath - 02-27-2019 08:50 PM Wow, I agree. Zero research. He probably picked the schools out of a hat RE: Athlon: Ranking C-USA's Football Jobs - wh49er - 02-27-2019 08:59 PM This thread is gonna go places RE: Athlon: Ranking C-USA's Football Jobs - THUNDERStruck73 - 02-27-2019 09:05 PM I’m not saying Marshall is hands down the best job, but it’s up there imho. Just my take on some: ODU, WKU, and UNT are ranked too low. FAU and FIU too high. Perhaps Marshall a spot or two too high. I would think relevant criteria are: Fan base Contract Facilities Program prestige Recent success Investment in football City’s enthusiasm toward the program RE: Athlon: Ranking C-USA's Football Jobs - Ourland - 02-27-2019 10:24 PM UTEP is probably a worse job than Rice, but not by much. Both schools definitely belong at the bottom. Besides WKUs last 5-6 years before last year and their 2002 National Title over McNeese State, WKU for the most part has been a 4-6 win team over their life. Sure they had moderate success when they were senior heavy sometimes but overall its been tough sledding in Bowling Green KY. Also they have always put basketball 1st. RE: Athlon: Ranking C-USA's Football Jobs - Volkmar - 02-27-2019 10:44 PM No complaints from me for UTSA other than there being no way on Science's green Earth that Charlotte should be ahead of us. That's a real head scratcher, especially when you consider what they wrote for both schools. That's one of many criteria. You also just fired a coach after two years. Makes the job less attractive. You have typically smaller fan bases in ratio to team performance. The fan base is basketball centric. Not much wrong with his take on WKU, but I agree it's a bit low. The right guy lives like a king in BG. Brohm had anything he wanted except a P5 patch. RE: Athlon: Ranking C-USA's Football Jobs - BlueRaiderBoy - 02-28-2019 10:53 AM Isn't Athlon a publication primarily owned & managed by a Vanderbilt dude or dudes? They could care less about MT, Western KY, or any CUSA school. They did no research at all in compiling their ranking. They are all about the SEC first, last and always. One of the Athlon writers is a VU grad, who serves as sideline reporter on Vandy football radio broadcasts on game days. His point of view is obvious. |
