December 22. Army vs UH - greyowl72 - 12-22-2018 05:18 PM

Approaching end of first half, Army leads 42-7.

I haven't seen UH play this year except against Rice and I thought they looked pretty decent. But, wow, against Army they are in total disarray. Being pummeled in all phases of the game. Army, on the other hand, looks impressive. They obviously will be the first Army team ever to win 11 games and will probably move up in the final rankings. Probably inside the top 20.

Very impressed and proud for Army. Of course, we play them at West Point in our 2019 opener over Labor Day Weekend 8 months from now..... I'm hoping they are graduating a bunch of Srs. this season.

Don’t have to worry about playing from behind when you’re out in front..

Frosh QB and no Ed Oliver

Still, pretty much every UH player was more heavily recruited than their Army counterparts.

Army has 49 points on 14 first downs.

At 9 minute mark of 3Q, Army is averaging 9.5 yds per rush and 23.3 yds per pass. Not bad for a boring option / clock control offense.

Army is what Rice could and should be. I've said Navy before, and they're having a down year this year, but I think we'd still be happy to have had their last ten years.

Am I saying we should run the flexbone? No, but I think we should understand how that factors into their success. Because what they are doing--succeeding by running contrarian schemes and executing them nearly flawlessly--is exactly what we need to do. They can't out-recruit people, but they can out-scheme and out-execute them--and they do.

Army actually runs a bunch of stuff that is different than what GT (for one more game), Navy, and Kennesaw run... For example, they use a lot of zone blocking concepts and run quite a bit of stuff with an unbalanced line.

Two losses on the season, one of them on the road in overtime to one of the playoff participants...

This is probably the best military academy team since '85 Air Force. And considering how successful Navy has been in recent times, that is really saying something.

56-7

UH is getting butt-whipped by a team that probably doesn't have a dozen athletes that the Coogs would have even considered recruiting. There's a lesson there for Rice.

We won't learn it.

Army used to have a Lonesome End. Now they have a Lonesome Punter.

RE: December 22. Army vs UH - Antarius - 12-22-2018 06:52 PM

70-14 now.

That's the final.

Major might be in trouble. That's a pretty embarrassing result.

Largest margin of victory in a bowl game in NCAA history.

I said UH wanted Kendall as their HC and that Major needed to be looking over his shoulder. But unless Khator/Tillman do send Major packing then it appears Kendall will be the OC at Florida State. But even when King was still QB there were some really curious offensive performances by UH this season. Was Major overruling what Kendall wanted to call? UH had way more problems than just the loss of two players. People keep pointing to the 2015 Peach Bowl in but Mensa in his second year didn’t come close to repeating that season. The sense of entitlement pops up agai on Cullen Blvd.

Major can always be our OC in 2020 when Bloomgren’s/Karlgaard’s jobs are on the line (but who am I kidding, Bloomgren will get a fourth year no matter what and Karlgaard will get another year as well)
