NCAA NET Rankings released today - solohawks - 11-26-2018 10:17 PM https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings This is the new ranking system to replace the RPI. I'm hoping like the RPI the rankings fix themselves as the season progresses. For some reason, Ohio St is #1 and Gonzaga is #5 UNCW is #255 RE: NCAA NET Rankings released today - surfsalot - 11-27-2018 02:57 PM RANK PREVIOUS SCHOOL CONFERENCE 110 112 Col. of Charleston CAA 112 111 Delaware CAA 122 119 William & Mary CAA 130 134 Northeastern CAA 142 140 Hofstra CAA 198 195 James Madison CAA 216 209 Drexel CAA 253 255 UNCW CAA 279 284 Towson CAA 287 298 Elon CAA RE: NCAA NET Rankings released today - dan10 - 11-28-2018 07:54 AM When you rightfully ignore past seasons and meaningless polls to start the year and go just off of the data in front of you, naturally you'll have weird things happen early in the year. All of these ranking systems would be better off not releasing anything until the non conference is done and you have about 2 months worth of games. RE: NCAA NET Rankings released today - EvanJ - 11-28-2018 10:31 AM I like seeing rankings. For some teams, their chance of an at-large bid can go from 20% to 0% depending on how the rest of their conference does OOC. I would hate if there were no conference rankings until January, and I look at conference rankings even if the Selection Committee doesn't. If the RPI and Sagarin were done for the whole season and the NET started later, it wouldn't be a big deal to me. My point is with so few data points there are going to be a lot of outliers and inaccuracies. Until that data becomes enough to be relevant, its rather meaningless. As far as conference rankings, once OOC is complete that is when it matters. All the fluctuation until then is just that, not enough information to decide, thus it is mostly relative. Yes as you near the end of the OOC is it more relevant and accurate, but it still just statistics on when it becomes a useful tool of information.
