The coach of the loser of the UNC-CH @ ECU matchup will be in hot water. Especially Fedora.

RE: ECU -Football - SEA33HAWK - 09-04-2018 03:32 PM

Never understood why they got rid of Ruffin.

Interestingly, Mike Capaccio was just named Athletic Director at the Citadel

He was a good fundraiser. Ashame personal issues got in the way

He probably promised to do his best to preserve The Citadel's perfect record in NCAA Tournament play.

RE: ECU -Football - Rueben Kincaid - 09-06-2018 12:25 PM

Made mistakes and paid for it with his job. Was able to get another job, hope he doesn't blow it by trying to hire Benny Moss again.

They've had some good teams over the years, but have been down a bit lately. If they beat UNC, that would really help their fan base. UNC is down too right now compared to what they were a few years back. State looks good and App. State also. It's cyclical. but when you lose a coach, it can happen.

UNCW has been good and bad too in hoops lately and we all don't like that either with our flagship program. The key is consistent play, but that's hard when coaches leave after a good run and don't have enough proven talent returning and have a new system. My hope is that UNCW is turning the corner back a bit in hoops. At least this UNCW coaching staff can recruit good players, like this past class, which is paramount to eventually building a winning program again.

The most consistent programs at UNCW and ECU is baseball, but both would love to have their so called flagships on top.

State struggled with JMU, I'm in wait and see mode

Right, good is relative! NCSU is coming off their best season in a long while and it was an 8-4 regular season with a Sun Bowl victory. They were the best team in the state last year, but they lost a lot talent to the NFL (more than I'd expect from a 4-loss team). They might be the best team in the state this year; they certainly are trending better than everyone other than ASU, but whether or not they're good is questionable.

Being the best football team in NC has been like being the "tallest midget" here lately

ASU can be proud of what they've accomplished the last 10 years, and NCSU has reason to be hopeful (but they're not there yet). Everyone else has reason to be embarrassed.

Agree on ASU, they have certainly been the most consistent the last 10-20 years for sure.

Although not by any means a powerhouse, duke has certainly cleaned up it's football act. They are no longer the "weak sisters of the poor" they once were. Cuthbert (?) has done a good job there.

Cutcliffe has done a good job at Duke, but the perception that they're any better than their mediocre, in-state competition is solely due to how bad they were before. 2013 was a great year for Duke, finishing the regular season 10-2, but like UNC, they weren't able to build off of the success. The last three years they're a combined 19-19.
