So is the football team going with the white helmets with the navy blue Old English "R" this year - similar to Stanford's look? All the pictures of fall practice show the guys wearing the white helmets.

Similarly, i saw where the soccer team posted pics of their new uniforms. Nice use of the blue and grey. I wonder if these were part of the new apparel deal with addidas, and whether we could see something similar for the football team in the near future.

EDIT - OK tried copying pics from Rice Soccer twitter account. Couldn't figure it out. If someone could post for reference, I'd be much obliged. But here is the tweet showing the uniforms:

They have been practicing in the white helmets, but all of the promotional images, posters, and senior shots are with the blue helmets.

The Soccer uniforms can be seen on the Facebook account. Personally, I didn't actually like the look as much as I thought that I would. Perhaps it will be different if the football team re-implements the usage of gray.

Football has two sets of helmets. White and Blue.

White has been the primary practice helmet for a few years now, with occasional game use.

I hope football can add some gray to the mix in the pants and/or helmets.

That would be fun.
I would be just as happy with blue helmets, blue jerseys, and gray pants with a Blue OER at home.

I also like the all white away uniforms with either the white helmet or the blue helmet.

The shoes are gray. Not much else of the school color to be seen.

One guy in that pic has gray shoes, the other white, another black shoes.

I would like a stripe or two. Also, numbers on sleeves and/or shouldertops. helps in pictures taken during gameplay.

Mostly, I would like to see us win again, and also compete like we were playing the actual game of football. At times in the past decade we did, but too often what I saw looked like we were playing a different game than the opponent. Most of what I've heard suggests those days will not be repeated under Coach Bloomgren, which I welcome.

The pants need a blue/gray stripe down each side badly. The jersey needs numbers on the shoulders. Outline the numbers in gray. These uniforms are too plain.

Looks to my eye like there is a small gray Texas with a blue OER inset added above the name plate....

Agree on wanting more gray overall and some added details (like a pants stripe).

This was mentioned a few weeks ago by another poster, but we may need to really communicate our desire for some gray on these uniforms to the AD.

We can solve all of this with just plain gray pants. No stripes or fancy stuff. That can come later.

As long as they are wearing pants, and standing in the opponent's end zone with the ball, I don't care.

A preview of this year's standard uniforms from the EZF tour last night. The white helmets have a matte finish and the white uniforms have gray accents. It was mentioned that there's a chance we'll see some alternates during the season.

Thanks ricefight, but our new unis don't look like the primeknit ones in the linked article. They don't look like the old shockweb either. Not sure what they are, some sort of budget / knockoff?

PS - be that as it may, they look fine and finally after multiple years of the home and aways not matching in design, at least that has been fixed.

For those who prefer gray pants with the home whites, we *could* all just agree to dye them a shade of light gray.
However, we do have more important battles. So my advice remains:

Rice Fight. Never Dye.

But seriously, we do need some color. These look like practice kits or the knockoff jerseys that famous players wear on TV but don't have the team license for their logos and stuff.
