Now that the stadium is pretty much a done deal. What is the next big thing for football? Athletics Department?
Yes, I know, money and butts in the seats... besides that, what is next to make UAB the next _________?

Well the BBVA Compass Stadium expansion should be done by the end of the year/early January. Not a signature sport, but still a significant project. We'll have one of the nicest on campus soccer stadiums in the country.
Other than that, I'd say a basketball practice facility and adding the 3rd football practice field.

Maybe chilling out and actually getting all this stuff done should be next. It's far from a done deal. Contracts still have to be signed and bonds sold and some of those still have to come before the city council. And the limits placed on the athletics department haven't changed from the university administration either.

Without a change in administration it will take strong arming for anything on campus related to football. A glaring need is Bartow Arena renovations along with a new converting Bell into a basketball practice facility.

We need a baseball/softball office and locker room facility.
We need a basketball/volleyball practice facility.

I think there are a number of relatively inexpensive things that could be done to improve the experience at Bartow Arena. That’s where I think we should focus some of our efforts. Those are things that impact men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and volleyball.
