Just for fun: Most ridiculous fictitious realignment rumors - Raider_Lope - 03-22-2018 07:38 PM

Now that hoops is over for the year, it’s time to have some fun with entertaining the most outlandish rumors of expansion possible. The rule: it can’t be even remotely true.

So I’ve *heard* that BYU is converting from a Mormon institution to Catholicism, opening up the door to move to the Big East. They stay independent in football and play other catholic schools in basketball.

This opens the door for a new WCC team, which is UVU. Surprise! Not to be outdone, the PAC 12 invites NMSU. The Aggies agree to the offer conditionally, so long as GCU comes along. Arizona and Utah second and carry the motion solely to piss off Arizona State. The Sun Devils leave in protest and join the WAC. They lose to Chicago State and decide to drop down to NAIA. Riding the momentum of the biggest upset in a decade, the Cougars break the top 25 and accept an invite to the Big 10, establishing a rivalry with Northwestern.

The biggest one of all is MWC wetting their pants that Gonzaga is going to that conference. Not gonna happen. Here's a true one. Bakersfield is moving to the Big West to be a bottom feeder.

I laughed quite a bit at all of this. Nice.

How about the Big XII kicks out UT-Austin due to their desire to own and run the world and replaces them with UTRGV. The press release says the following "In an effort to expand into a new demographic market, the Big XII has decided to invite UTRGV into the conference. The Rio Grande Valley is the gateway to Central and South America, what better chance to enter show the conference's commitment to these emerging markets, than by inviting UTRGV to join us. We expect this will be the first of many invitations in the upcoming months. I am not at liberty to say more, but think Frequent Flyer miles!"

The AAC adds BYU and the top half of the Mountain West to form a super conference and become Power 6. UCF is awarded Louisville's vacated national title. All the MWC schools that left for the AAC put their olympic sports in the WAC. Gonzaga finally leaves the WCC and joins the Big Sky

WAC-Summit merger.
