#2 GSU vs. #4 UTA

I'm not crazy about this matchup for Georgia State. UTA is a senior-laden team with something to prove and a whole bunch of talent. Simonds is due for a big game in New Orleans.

ESPN 2 -- 2 PM EST, 1 PM CST.

UTA is going to be a tough out. The zebras have as much say in this game as anyone!

Didn't matter who the competition was, this was gonna be a hard game. Personally i'd prefer UTA than Louisiana because i think we'd have to play a perfect game to beat them (as we did earlier in the season), but that doesn't mean we can lay off against UTA.

I think UTA gives the conference the better chance at a win in the NCAA tourney if Neal can stay hot.

Too bad ULL lost they would have received a solid seed and had an even better chance.

Yeah, it's possible the Belt lost four seeds with their losing. The difference in 12 and 16 is enormous.

Hoping whoever wins today will be at least a 15. (But most of all just hoping it's us...)

UTA was a lower seed than GS, but they're the tougher match up in terms of talent and size. Expecting a bloody battle

Let's go Mavs .... pounce on them Panthers!

Same. I think 15 is expected.

I put this in the semis thread, but it got lost in the rivalry/not rivalry of Georgia Southern/Georgia State.

I will be rooting for my Mavs obviously, but given our history, I’d have to say Georgia State is the favorite. UTA is 1-4 in conference tournament championship games. Their lone win was in 2008 as UTA won 82-79 over Northwestern St.

The losses are to familiar teams: 1982, Louisiana 81 - UTA 75 / 1991, ULM 87 - UTA 60 / 1998, Nichols St 84 - UTA 81 & 2013 New Mexico St 64 - UTA 55.

time to show why you're SBC's best player Simonds!

I don't think UTA would get a 16. There have been some upsets in the conference tournaments this year, and the Mavs actually were pretty good in OOC play. They fell apart when they hit league play.

Interesting, but I don't think history matters. If you flip a coin four times and it comes up heads each time, what is the chance it's heads on the fifth flip? 50 percent.

Halftime, Panthers by 3. . . .

Neal kinda quiet offensively in the first half .. . think he needs to really heat up in the 2nd half for Mav to have a chance . .

is it too much to ask for ESPN guys to talk about our game during our halftime?

We are talking true chance. The human element is at play and for some reason, our teams don’t do well under pressure.

Halfway through the second half, and Panthers now up BIG. Not looking like Mavs' Day. 57-38.

When have they ever talked about the Sun Belt?

I m going ahead and say congrats Ga St. We (GS) at least made a good run at you guys yesterday. In spite of what some of our fans say Ga St has some really nice players and a good coach
