Relavent to some earlier discussion. I noticed that Delaware announced a kicker signing with their recruit class.
Hunch that Ayamel and D'Abreu end up following Houston.

Jaaron Hayek committing in February

RE: 2019 Football Recruiting - Tribeheart - 12-19-2018 04:37 PM

JMU actually had 4 commits who didn't sign yet. Besides Ayamel and D'Abreu, we, also, showed interest in Jalen Green.

I'm curious how well our coaches do with a full recruiting season. They were able to cobble together a pretty good early class at the last moment with Howard targets. All this talk of running the 757 and VA, with nothing to show. I expect that to change. Continue to attack PA and NJ. Work on improving a foothold in TX & FL

RE: 2019 Football Recruiting - Tribeheart - 12-19-2018 04:55 PM

Howard signed alot, so, I don't think we poached, but a couple.

I'm disappointed Tribal didn't get a follow and flip with D'Abreu. Need to dock his pay...

From Nigeria. Hasn't seen his family in 3 years. First person in his family to go to college. Earned a scholarship to play football at W&M.

Awesome stuff! Can’t wait to root for him and the other great guys we signed over the next 4-5 years! Go Tribe!

Obviously summer camp and practice will determine a lot, but does anyone know London’s track record in playing true freshman? I know the line is the best players play and that’s generally what happens, but just trying to get a read on how many of these guys might legit play next year since we have a new offensive system completely or if most/all will redshirt.

I think London definitely wants to start off with the biggest bang and most success that he can in his first year. So my guess is that the best players play regardless of what class they are. If two players are equal then he might lean towards the player he recruited.

All coaches want to redshirt players if possible, particularly at the FCS level. The best have to play. Show any favoritism and you're asking for trouble. Incoming freshmen start where they always start.... at the bottom.

Yes, but that is why I said "If two players are equal then he might lean towards the player he recruited.". My reasoning there is that he wants potential recruits to think that they will play, not sit. If the players are equal then he could play his recruit to send that message to future potential recruits. He may not care if an upperclass Laycock legacy (remember, if the two players are equal) gets disgruntled and leaves because then that would free up another scholarship for one of his own recruits. I don't think any Laycock legacy players would be shocked if they perceive (or think they perceive) staff favoritism towards London recruits. Such things happen all the time and that is why players transfer after coaching changes. We have already seen one Laycock commitment (Christopher) decommit --- was he a high priority for the incoming staff?

I hope he finds what he's looking for. He's just a child.

Anyone know about how many scholarships remain for the February signing day?
