former APP named head coach of Az Cardinals - FlatIron - 01-23-2018 07:19 PM

Wilks played at Appalachian State from 1987 to 1991. APP also has former player Alvin Gentry as the head coach of New Orleans Pelicans.

From what was posted at Yosef Cabin, App State is the only university in the country that can lay claim to having two current head coaches in the major leagues. I think Cal had that until recently when one of their alumni was let go/resigned/fired/not renewed from a major league team.

Not alums, but the current Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, and Offensive Coordinator for the Steelers are all former Arkansas State assistants.

That is correct. Jason Kidd was the coach of the Bucks until just a couple of hours after AZ announced Wilks as head coach. Cal's other alumnus in charge is our boy Riverboat Ron, of course.

Former ULM QB and current Philly HC headed to the Super Bowl next weekend. Glad to see so many SBC member foes have former coaches and players succeeding at the highest levels. Kudos to those guys.
