Orcev re-classifies to 2020 so I’ll move him over to that list. Well, okay, the final score was 84-70 --- so no pressure (literally and figuratively) on that shot. But sure, I'm glad our recruit is showing well. RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting - Tribeheart - 06-30-2019 10:10 AM Rainers Hermanovskis is listed as a starter for the Latvian U20 National Team. FIBA ranks them as the #13 team in their world rankings. They start group play against Germany on July 13th in Tel Aviv, in the top division at the 2019 FIBA U20 European Championships. FWIW, the Spain U20 team (FIBA World #6) and Germany U20 team (FIBA World #17) which are, both, in Rainers' group play above, finished 2nd and 3rd in the Melilla International Tournament that Miguel's U22 team just won. RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting - Tribeheart - 07-15-2019 10:11 AM FIBA streamed all of their U20 European Championship games live and are available for viewing. Latvia lost all three of their group games to Germany, Spain and Croatia. Rainers started all three games, averaged about 22 mins/game, but not much production. He scored 10, 7, and 0 pts in the three games. He did not play point and their offense put him down in the corner behind the arc with little opportunity to touch the ball. His FT shooting form was not pure. I would be very surprised if we see any impact from him. Since he hasn’t followed specific players it’s a guess who he is looking at. TJ Bickerstaff, whom Austin Shaver followed earlier, is on Team Charlotte. JMU recently offered 6’5” Caleb Stone-Carrawell (Team United) and 6’9” Mike Fowler (Team Felton) so maybe those are possible targets. Verbal Commits lists Fowler as transferring from JMU. Looking forward to watching him progress and learn!! 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting - Naptown Tribe - 07-31-2019 10:38 AM Interesting to hear Ben talk about possibly choosing to redshirt .... With how college basketball has turned with transfers of late not sure how that would benefit us necessarily, and I doubt he will. Good article. Adam Finkelstein of ESPN tweets: “Dexter Southfield (MA) & @WrightWaySkills forward Thatcher Stone has reclassified to 2019 & committed to William & Mary for the coming season. Late-blooming forward is tough with a nice combination of skill & athleticism.” https://mobile.twitter.com/AdamFinkelstein/status/1162515376908976128 Corey Evans of Rivals tweets: “Awesome pick-up late in the year. Good sized wing-forward that makes shots and brings athleticism to the floor” https://mobile.twitter.com/coreyevans_10/status/1162515676285853697 Highlights: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lV00XTPkKDM&feature=youtu.be https://mobile.twitter.com/TheHoopGroup/status/1150903635238412289 RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting - Tribeheart - 08-16-2019 07:45 PM Welcome to the Tribe Family, Thatcher!! Gets to the rim and very athletic. Looks like new Tribe basketball with less of an emphasis on stretching the defense, ball movement, and threes. Looking at the roster from an iPhone on a Friday night (i.e., highly likely to be wrong): 13 scholarship players on roster 6 new players this year 4 scholarship players out of eligibility after 19-20 4 scholarships available for next year I don’t see how anyone can know how these moving parts fit together for this year; hopefully we’ll have something come March. What are our major needs going further? RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting - Tribeheart - 08-16-2019 09:51 PM A point guard, a center, a stretch post, and an athletic wing/power forward (Lipscomb/Metheny, Brown, Smith, and Dorsey, respectively.) I think Wight will be redshirted this year. 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting - ColonelEbirt - 08-16-2019 09:52 PM Congrats and welcome to the Tribe, Thatcher! I wonder what sort of disadvantage he faces by missing all of summer practice? Sort of amazing we are going to have 13 scholarship players this year. Will be very interesting to see how the team comes together. His game does remind me some of Pierce. I think Pierce is more athletic but Thatcher is a better shooter from distance. Will be interesting to see what the lineups look like. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
