Acunzo gets an offer from Hofstra. Now up to 19 offers. He's a hot commodity with about 5 offers, including us, in the last couple of weeks

RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting - WillaMary08 - 08-09-2018 07:11 AM

Northwestern offers Beran.

RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting - bubbadog57 - 08-09-2018 11:59 AM

Let me know when the Golden State Warriors offer Beran!

RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting - Tribeheart - 08-09-2018 04:26 PM

Golden State hasn't offered, but Davidson just did. I now throw in my white flag, as outside of the P5's, I think Davidson gets in the way.

Davidson won't even make the top 12 man. Too Little Too Late. Based on the list of schools as I look at them again I actually think tribe has a chance of sliding in there in one of those 12 slots. The odds of him picking us as the final are slim to none but it would be nice to at least get the consideration.

RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting - Tribeheart - 08-09-2018 05:25 PM

Davidson has been involved for awhile, and like Tony, McKillop is very measured in his offers. They wouldn't offer at this stage unless they think they are in a good place with Beran. I assume Roddy (offered by them several months ago) is not leaning there or they are trying to force the issue.
Players in recent years we have both offered who committed to one of those offers:
Davidson - Steph Curry, Jack Gibbs, Peyton Aldridge, Kishawn Pritchett, Carter Collins.
W&M - none

We're simply not there yet when going head to head, and no real distance advantage here. UR is too close and is at a potential disadvantage.

All of the above may be moot anyway.

Ironically, Luke Loewe was in Davidson's crosshairs, but committed to us before Davidson offered, which then left Carter Collins to choose Davidson. I saw Collins play several times with them last year and I'll take Luke all the way.

Looks like Tom Welch committed to Loyola!!

RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting - Tribeheart - 08-09-2018 07:58 PM

Know the staff priority for the two lone spots has focused on a big and a big guard/wing, but can't help but think we'd have a very good shot at Tyler Bertram, since no P5 programs stepped up yet. Thornton needs his doubles partner.

From St. Joe's interview:
"With offers from the likes of St. Joe’s, Dayton, George Mason, Charlotte, East Carolina, Saint Louis, Loyola Chicago, Bryant, and countless others, he’s starting to think about cutting that list down. "

I, also, still like his Vermont Academy teammate, 6'8" SF Tommy O'Neil. https://t.co/TuQvxPMwQD

David Roddy tweets:

“Blessed to receive an offer to play Big Ten Basketball for the Hometown University of Minnesota.”

WM does not make Acunzo’s final five. They are: Toledo, South Florida, Bucknell, ODU, and Richmond.

Of course,...Bucknell.

RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting - Tribe32 - 08-11-2018 09:23 AM

Why not go to a country club school like Bucknell or Richmond? High Point also.

RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting - Tribeheart - 08-11-2018 01:03 PM

Bertram announced he'll narrow to seven schools next week. Guess not in our cards.

Interesting that we've still had minimal movement to put out other offers. Hope we find that our existing group are still very warm, though it doesn't look that way on the surface. Otherwise, getting late for plan b and c, unless a sense that picking up a late bloomer in the spring is viable. Plan b and c options have been thinning out quick.

FWIW, looks like that original tweet was removed. At least I could no longer find it.

Yeah I can’t find it now either. @RicDeAnge was the source of the tweet; it even had a little graphic with the five logos over a pic of Acunzo. I did find it a little stange that the same guy said that Acunzo would narrow his list in September and then just a few days later tweets the final five and says Acunzo will take officials in September.

Untrustworthy and unreliable source spreading disinformation? In this day and age? Blasphemy!

RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting - WillaMary08 - 08-13-2018 05:34 AM

Austin Shaver liked a tweet from Putnam Science Academy announcing their new forward Kenny Isnord (6’8” 215lbs) from the Bahamas. He holds offers from VA Tech, FGCU, St. Bonaventure, FIU, Tennessee Tech, Buffalo, Austin Peay, Florida Atlantic, and Appalachian State.
