OOC home game questions - southcharlotteapp - 02-13-2017 03:59 PM

With the App vs UNC talks being announcement over the weekend, two questions have come to mind.

With the exception of Idaho and NMST, has any other SB school hosted its state's "flagship" university?

and

What are considered to be your best two OOC homes opponents of all time?

Thanks!

RE: OOC home game questions - EigenEagle - 02-13-2017 04:10 PM

Neither Southern nor State has and won't any time soon. UGA is not going to to do a one-for-one with any G5 team, and Tech will only do them with G5s in major cities (Atlanta doesn't count, obviously).

I don't think Ark State has played Arkansas at any location, but not sure.

If Troy has hosted Alabama or Auburn or the Louisiana teams have LSU, it's been a long, long time.

Being in a state with crappy Power 5 football programs has its perks.

They've never played, believe it or not.

WKU hosted UK a few years back if I remember correctly.

Not in football.
The NIT paired us up against Nolan Richardson's '60 Minutes of Hell' back in the 80s at Barnhill Arena. We lost in OT.

Thanks for the info. Looking for current SB schools in football only. I'm pretty sure I know the answer to the flagship question, but wanted to make sure. Very curious about everyone's top two OOC home opponents.

Top two OOC home opponents?

1. UGA (who will never play in Statesboro. unless mandated by the state. which wont happen)
2. GT (this could possibly happen one day) or Bama / Auburn / Clemson / FSU (which wont happen).

RE: OOC home game questions - BurlingtonApp - 02-13-2017 04:31 PM

I don't see any reason GT couldn't happen. They're not a whole lot more successful than UNC, and have pretty much the exact same attendance numbers.

Sorry, I guess I'm not being clear. I would like to know everyone's top two OOC home opponents you have played in the past or you have scheduled for the future.

1. Houston (if you want to count future opponents).
2. North Dakota State (even though VanButthead was the coach they year they came down)
3. Western Michigan (hey, they were just a year from the Access Bowl when we beat them)

We cannot even get a MBB at UGA or GT at their places. We will never play them in football.

We have had Ole Miss and Missouri in Jonesboro. Miami is coming this year.

For South, Mississippi State and North Carolina State. (Oklahoma State in September)

RE: OOC home game questions - Bobcat2013 - 02-13-2017 08:31 PM

Our biggest home games to this point have been

1. Tech
2. Houston
3. Navy
4. Southern Miss

The only reason I put USM was because we somehow almost sold out Bobcat Stadium when they came. Not sure if that had to do with them being a bigger name than I'd ever imagined or our 2014 season "success".

In the near future UTSA, and SMU will be big games. A little further on we have Baylor and Arizona State coming to town. Too bad I'll probably be too old to pass for a college student when we go to Arizona State.

Edit: To me top OOC game means probable sellout.

RE: OOC home game questions - slycat - 02-13-2017 09:40 PM

Texas will never play in San Marcos. Even their "home and homes" with Rice are played at NRG Stadium. Texas A&M will most likely never go to San Marcos either.

The schools is Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Georgia, and Alabama will never see the flagships at home unless they are forced to do so. I'd be shocked if South Carolina or Clemson ever went to CCU.

Army was pretty big name-wise.

Doubtful UGA ever plays us again after the way the 2015 game went.

GT wil likely play us again since we buy a metric asston of tickets.

Coastal's is obviously Kansas. Then a pretty big drop off.
