Hmmmm....stAte is not favored again by this group. That's ok...our guys will be getting fitted for another ring in December....as it should be.03-cloud9

The goat ranchers will be the favorites with them not playing Troy or Ark State. And if our new offensive coaching staff turns it around they'll have us in Boone as well.

I like to think that's about right for us

RE: The First 2017 Pre Season Outlook - HappyAppy - 02-05-2017 08:49 PM

Troy might be the best team based on talent but agree we are the favorites because of the schedule. Next year has the potential to be pretty special, lots of experience and talent coming back and a manageable schedule (on paper at least).

RE: The First 2017 Pre Season Outlook - sdcritter - 02-05-2017 09:10 PM

Next year could be bizarre. App and Troy have loads of talent and App has the schedule favoring them. GS has talent but remains to be seen if they can work out their coaching conundrum. State will be stAte, meaning the talent is there but who knows what this coaching staff has learned from last year. If South Alabama figures out how to win conference games they could be a terror. I'm still not sure what to think about the Cajuns. We can't beat them at their place is all I know.

Is it football season yet?

That A-State is ranked that high while having to replace their entire OL is a little surprising.

Not sure their fans are sure that retaining Anderson & Company is an advantage in a league with some very talented coaches.

They did note that- "....their current roster may be the most talented in the conference." , and talent can sometimes overcome a lot of issues.

It can't overcome **** coaching.

As we found out last year.

That's the scary thought for me. Talent wise we've got a championship team on the field. Even in our worst season in a decade we were 1 win away from a bowl appearance. With average coaching next season theres no reason we couldn't win at least 8 games (unless our young QB's are prone to a lot of mistakes).

Texas State will be better. The great purge of 2016 separated the men from the boys, now that the holes left are being filled by Withers recruits we should see the dividends pretty quickly. I don't think it will be perfect but I expect us to be in a bowl next season and to be seriously competing for the SBC title here in the next few years.

RE: The First 2017 Pre Season Outlook - slycat - 02-06-2017 10:48 AM

I think TXST will win around 3 games in 2017 and make a bowl in 2018. The team is still very young and inexperienced. I sure hope they exceed expectations.

For some reason Under Dog Dynasty is blocked here at work. What order do they have the Sun Belt finishing?

Not really an order of finish kind of thing, but they show 2017 S&P+ Projections and "rank" teams according to Tiers.

S&P+

1. App (62)
2. Troy (79)
3. stAte (83)
4. GS (98)
5. USA (108)
6. UL (112)
7. GaSt (113)
8. CCU (114)
9. Idaho (119)
10. ULM (121)
11. NMSU (124)
12. TxSt (129)

Then in the Article:

Contenders
App State
Troy
stAte

Middle of the Pack
Georgia Southern
USA
UL
GaSt
CCU

Bottom Feeders
Idaho
ULM
NMSU
TxSt

Did they have to use a crowbar? 02-13-banana

USA has to fix drop passes and penalties, that should get us at least one or 2 more wins. We signed several tall WRs, I'm interested to see what those guys can do. I am wondering who will be starting qb Dallas Davis or Cole Garvin.

RE: The First 2017 Pre Season Outlook - LatahCounty - 02-06-2017 01:49 PM

Hahahahahahahaha.

I guarantee Idaho will finish higher than 9th place.

RE: The First 2017 Pre Season Outlook - Bobcat2013 - 02-06-2017 02:38 PM

Has the SBC determined how we will do the CCG yet?

RE: The First 2017 Pre Season Outlook - slycat - 02-06-2017 02:42 PM

Idaho won't be behind CCU. I think they will finish around 5th.

RE: The First 2017 Pre Season Outlook - _x_ - 02-06-2017 06:26 PM

Poor Idaho gets no respect. They really don't deserve to be among us bottom feeders. Not this year at least.
