Kenyon Martin JR. - BeerCat - 01-07-2017 10:21 AM

God I hope Mick can somehow pull this kid. Definitely a good sign that Kenyon has started hanging around the program again. How cool would it be to see Kenyon Martin's kid playing for UC. The kid looks damn goo already, I believe he is the class of 2019. Unfortunately in the Bleacher Report article he is quoted as saying, "Duke is my dream school."

I've heard his dad doen't want him here....too much pressure from being compared to his dad. Makes sense.

That was the first thing I thought of as well. Looks like he will have plenty of options.

Can't blame him one bit. Way too much to live up to.

That thought must have come to Kenyon Sr. after he'd named the kid.

Kenyon and Huggs had the closest player/coach relationship I've seen; wonder if WVU will be in the mix?

RE: Kenyon Martin JR. - Nobones - 01-07-2017 03:05 PM

I am of the position to still offer no matter what. Even if that is the case to still put it out there that he has a spot here if he wants it.

Mick needs to get Kenyon on his staff. He also needs to be opening up slots for a top 10 players Dad every year.

Kenyon made tons of $$$ in NBA,may not want to be a coach in college. If I made over a 100 mil I would be sitting on a beach somewhere pretty much everyday!!!

247 is showing that we offered KMJr on Saturday.

If true, my guess is Mick would not offer unless he felt there was serious interest on KMJr's part?

6'6 PF?

I hope he's working on his game, I can't see a 6'6 PF having much opportunity to bang in college, much less the next level.

Might just be an SF without a reliable jumpshot or a solid handle.
Kid has hops and can probably defend, no problem taking a flyer on that.

There have been plenty of successful 6'6 PFs in college basketball. If you're super athletic you can be a stud at that size. It's not the norm, but I wouldn't write players off because of that. His dad was what 6'8 and legitimately the best center in college basketball.

hicks was six six

RE: Kenyon Martin JR. - Cat_Litter - 10-10-2017 11:14 AM

He's just a sophomore in HS. He might grow another inch or three.

This is also very true.

Well he was listed at 6'6... Probably closer to 6'5, maybe even a little under.

Hell, there have been plenty of successful 6'6" or so (and under) PFs at UC. Paging Messrs. Maxiel, Hicks & Fortson...
