Tulsa Area HS Football - rabidTU2 - 12-03-2016 11:04 AM

Don't know if anyone caught the games last night for the HS FB Championships, but the eastern side of the state once again dominated in the big school classes. Tulsa Union won in the 6A "big boy" class 57-43 over previously undefeated Norman North. In 6A II, Bixby beat Lawton 39-31 and Wagoner also won the 5A title. Its becoming "Old Hat" for the east to win the state FB title year after year. Either Union or Jenks from the Tulsa area has won the 6AI title now 21 straight years. That is domination!

The TV people for channel 6 (KOTV) interviewed the director of the OSSAA (high school governing body in the state) and he was giddy at having the games in Tulsa and at TU. He praised the university for being a "great host" for the games. The city of Tulsa has become the mecca for sports at that level now and it starts by hosting the summer preseason coaches clinics with the vast number of venues available in Tulsa (including hotel space and clinic areas) to host the games like available golf courses, tennis courts (at the Case Center), the large arena's at TU and ORU for basketball, volleyball, baseball etc. OKC has nothing like that available to match them.

But once again, the east leads the way.

Our RB commit Shamari Brooks from Union runs like he's possessed by a demon. His wild running style is hard to describe, but its a combination of reckless abandon and "anger". He's about the size of Brewer, but completely different from the controlled moves of Brewer. Brooks was the best player on the field last night which included two kids from the Bob Stoops family tree playing for Norman. 02-13-banana04-cheers05-mafia07-coffee3

I saw just a little of each game. Brooks looked good from what I saw. We've had a lot of success recently with a running back who runs "angry" so thats a good sign for TU!

Congratulations to TU commit (RB) Shamari Brooks of 6AI State Champion Tulsa Union who was named Ford Sports Extra (Channel 8) Oklahoma Player of the Year. :)

2017 commit Zaven Collins won the Class A state title with Hominy last night. Ought to be a good ball player.
