Most at one time ever? The NFL is a copycat league- they are starting to value the contributions and talent of JMU grads and it should only build from here. Good for recruiting and reinforces the quality of the program relative to G5 leagues like Sun Belt and Cusa. Basically telling us what we already witnessed with our own eyes. High level football program who can compete with all G5/P6 programs and some P5 programs in terms of relative talent and athleticism. If it walks like a duck it’s a duck.

RE: Pro Dukes - Hart Foundation - 05-08-2019 06:36 AM

This ESPN article lists the 15 most underrated draft picks from 2019.
Jimmy comes in at #15. Getting lots of attention for a 7th round pick

Pick No. 227: Jimmy Moreland, CB, Washington Redskins

Drafting a 5-foot-9, 179-pound cornerback any higher than this is difficult to justify. Moreland isn't the average 5-foot-9, 179-pound corner, though. His 18 college interceptions are a James Madison record, and he is as physical a corner as you'll see. Moreland has the skills to project immediately into the starting slot position.

They won their 1st game over one of the Munich teams 20-14. Wasn't able to pull up any stats though. It appears the club has a # of teams, from youth up to the pro.

Not sure how to post it in the cool format that Degernate does but looks like JFM will be wearing #25.

RE: Pro Dukes - JMUDukes1750 - 05-10-2019 02:41 PM

That's just for the preseason. If/When he makes the roster, he'll wear a different number. Chris Thompson is making the Redskins roster and wears #25.

That is, if Chris Thompson isn't injured. 03-thumbsup

(seriously, I know Gruden and staff love CT and I do too...but, he just can't stay healthy for more than a handful of games each season...I know some Skins fans were none-too-happy about the drafting of Bryce Love, also injured, in the 4th round but I think it is a sign the Skins brass isn't anywhere near 100% certain CT can stay healthy...we shall see...CT is very good when he's available)

This article about Jimmy is currently for the moment on the front page of the Redskins official website... https://www.redskins.com/news/jimmy-moreland-may-be-a-pick-machine-but-his-foundation-starts-in-the-classroom

RE: Pro Dukes - Potomac - 05-16-2019 11:06 AM

Is anyone else frankly a bit surprised at the length of some of our pro dukes' careers? Tamera Young, Josh Wells, Arthur Moats (before last season), all come to mind.

RE: Pro Dukes - HyperDuke - 05-16-2019 11:29 AM

Tamera had the size & handle to be a pro, so that never surprised me. Arthur was great here, but seemed to elevate his play once he got to the league.

RE: Pro Dukes - Wear Purple - 05-20-2019 07:28 PM

Jimmy F’n Moreland had a big day today at Redskins OTA’s. Interception and several pass break ups. Cited by NBC Sports Washington beat writers.

Arthur’s game at Delaware his senior year was the most impressive game I’ve ever seen by a JMU football player. He basically had 30 sacks*.

* slight hyperbole

RE: Pro Dukes - HyperDuke - 05-20-2019 10:31 PM

Ha, did not witness that game.

RE: Pro Dukes - Wear Purple - 05-23-2019 07:35 AM

"Surprise rookie (JF'nM) makes a name for himself in Redskins OTA's"...

https://redskinswire.usatoday.com/2019/05/21/surprise-rookie-makes-a-name-for-himself-in-redskins-otas/

“He’s got great ball skills and he’s got a great confidence about him,” Gruden said, via Redskins.com. “He’s a great competitor. I love the energy that he brings. He’s a great competitor, and I think when the pads do come on for real, I think he’ll be right there in the mix with everybody.”

In college, Moreland intercepted a school-record 18 passes, six of which he took to the house. If OTAs are any indication of what’s to come, Washington got a steal in the seventh round.

Love the comments below the article. For example...

Not much of a surprise to us, maybe to you. We been talking about Moreland since he was drafted. In fact most if not all of us in here has talked about he's good enough to make up for his size with speed and anticipation.
