RE: Pro Dukes - Duke Dawg - 02-10-2019 07:51 AM

AAF got some work to do.

Can’t find a box score anywhere for the game last night.

Not on AAF website. CBS the broadcast partner...nope. Orlando site...nope.

Guess first year budget didnt have enough for statisticians.

Wait, there's yet another attempt at a pro league besides the NFL?

How many failed leagues have we had in the last 30+ years. USFL, World League, XFL, Arena2, and what else am I leaving off?

Fans like you are the reason why. More excuses than anything.
No the reason why is bad business models & inferior products.

Ironically, you just defined the NFL.

That is disappointing there isn’t a box score immediately available. That’s on their main broadcast partner CBS to have their site functional.

I would imagine the AAF executives can ask but at the end of the day, CBS would need to get their **** together. They have always had an inferior web front compared to the ESPN’s of the world.

Obviously, espn has no motivation to keep up with it since it’s not their broadcasting product and they have no $ tied into it right now.

Both stadiums in San Antonio and Orlando had pretty solid crowds in them when you consider this isn’t the NFL or SEC Football.
It looked like 25k+ crowds IMO.

RE: Pro Dukes - jmu98 - 02-10-2019 09:37 AM

This league is different than the others before it as it has the support and backing of the nfl which will use it as a proving ground to some extent. There will be multiple games broadcast on the nfl network this year.

The salary structure is interesting as every player has the same contract and all players get team bonuses for certain plays like tds and turnovers. The model is interesting because they are looking to make money in different ways than the traditional league.

Pro Dukes - Potomac - 02-10-2019 10:17 AM

The AAF essentially presented themselves as the equivalent of the AHL to the NHL. A more minor league that players can develop and get more eye balls from NFL scouts.

It just has a better media deal than even the AHL has. Hell, it has a better media deal then even the CUSA, MAC and SBC in FBS have.

I don’t even follow the NFL. Only watched a few playoff games (didn’t even know who was in the playoff until after they started) & the Super Bowl). I’m sure I’m not the only one who was unaware of yet another in a long line of attempts at a pro startup league.

Completely understandable. I know a lot of people who don't watch the NFL but love CFB for a number of reasons. Saw it as an opportunity for a friendly jab 04-cheers. We'll see how this league lasts.

In other news, looks like Ishmael had a lot of family and friends in attendance for his first professional game.

It's not a traditional box score with its own link, but I found PDFs with game stats within them for the AAF.

You have to go to the post-game news story here: https://aaf.com/news

There's a PDF link to the stats at the top of each article.

XFL is coming back. Another one starting up, the "Fan Controlled Football League" is like a hybrid of Madden Football and real life players on Twitch.

Apparently, people with money (aka investors) still believe they can make it work: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2019/02/08/pro-football-new-leagues-aaf-xfl-change-nfl-college-game/2800945002/

AAF and XFL both plan to spend more than $500 million to gain traction.

The FCFL is a bit nuts. They are trying to combine Fantasy Football with Madden, and make it "real" with Pro players on the field:

I hear he is petitioning for another year of eligibility to serve as team artist and pregame dunker. It will also help with student sorority attendance, (love that russki accent.)

RE: Pro Dukes - Hart Foundation - 02-15-2019 10:27 AM

Hahaha. Semenov lighting it up in Russia. Shooting 64% 3pt 04-jawdrop and scoring 29 points per game.
He has only played in 7 of 28 games though. Is it possible he is injured again? No way...
