Men's team with the dominant 4 to 1 road win at Campbell

Women's team had a 2 to 2 tie hosting Navy

Solid start to the season although I'm sure the ladies are bummed they couldn't get the win

Cox Repeats as CAA Rookie-of-the-Week

RICHMOND, Virginia – Freshman forward Nikki Cox of UNCW has been named as the Colonial Athletic Association's Women's Soccer Rookie-of-the-Week for the second straight time after guiding the Seahawks to a 1-0-1 record.

"We had two great team efforts this past week," said Head Coach Paul Cairney. "We are finding different ways to score and Nikki is putting herself in great areas to finish. Serenity [Waters] is playing a huge part in this with her excellent movement and supporting runs. As with all individual awards, Nikki shares this with her teammates."

A native of Newark, Ohio, Cox scored two goals with an assist as the Seahawks extended their unbeaten streak to four straight games. After posting her first career assist in UNCW's 2-2 double overtime draw against Navy, Cox recorded her second multi-goal game of the season with a two-goal effort in a 4-1 victory over UMBC.

Cox, who leads the CAA in scoring, ranks second in NCAA Division I with six goals and stands third in the nation in scoring with 13 points. She has tallied at least one point in all four games this year.

The Seahawks, unbeaten through four games for the fourth time in program history, visit Campbell on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. before hosting NC State on Sunday, Sept. 4, at 1 p.m.

Is it just me or are UNCW sports as a whole really showing astronomical improvement in the last few years? All programs are succeeding.

Way to go Cox!
