RE: AAC Softball at TU - rabidTU2 - 05-13-2016 08:14 PM

TU is playing in the AAC championship game Saturday at the Collins Softball Complex against top seed USF. I was there today and the TU girls really played well against UCF, the second seed a 4-0 win. The game will be televised on ESPN and begins at 11am. The forecast is for very cool weather with the high tomorrow in the mid-60's.

Go out and support the girls if you can. USF won't have many fans there and its a big advantage for us to play at home. USF has been a ranked team most of the year and will probably be in the NCAA's no matter what, but TU "must" win.

RE: AAC Softball at TU - rabidTU2 - 05-15-2016 10:13 AM

Congratulations to the TU softball team and coaches for winning the AAC Tournament against USF at the Collins softball complex. TU is now in the NCAA Softball Tournament representing the AAC as the automatic conference qualifier. TU was not scored on during the tournament shutting out ECU (2-0), #2 seed UCF (4-0) and top seed USF (4-0).

Go TU!!

RE: AAC Softball at TU - rabidTU2 - 05-15-2016 11:28 AM

ESPNU is televising the NCAA softball selection show tonight at 9pm. We will know our ranking, which bracket we are in and who and when we play. I also think USF will be in and UCF has a decent chance of making it. Three AAC teams would be great! But of course the best thing is we are in no matter what.

This has unexpectadly been a very good year for TU athletics with the Independence Bowl, NCAA MBB tourney and now softball making the NCAA field. Suddenly we are one of the premiere programs in the AAC. Now lets go out and win some more!

RE: AAC Softball at TU - rabidTU2 - 05-15-2016 10:56 PM

Congratulations to the TU women as well as UCF and USF for making the NCAA SB tournament. Three AAC teams "in" meets our expectations. Also our nearby neighbor and (hopefully) future AAC member school Wichita St also made the field which shows everyone what a strong program they have. They will be in the OU regional along with us, OU and Ole Miss - our first opponent.

See you at the game!

Man, a lot of good softball around these parts with TU, WSU, and OU. Kind of cool we're all in the same regional. Except for the fact we have to play OU to advance. But I guess if you wanna be the best you gotta beat the best. It sure would be something to win the conference in Tulsa then go to the college world series in OKC.

RE: AAC Softball at TU - rabidTU2 - 05-17-2016 06:22 PM

TU plays Ole Miss in Norman on Friday at 5:30pm. Winner plays the OU v WSU winner.

RE: AAC Softball at TU - rabidTU2 - 05-20-2016 05:22 PM

So far today the AAC is 1-1 with UCF beating FAU (1-0) and USF losing to So Carolina (2-0).

Again there will be whip around coverage of the TU v Ole Miss game at 5:30pm our time. The main feed will be on ESPN3 which I never care to access or bother with.

OSU got beat by Northwestern today and of course the big game in Norman between OU and Wichita St later on about 8pm.

Lots of neat NCAA sports going on in and around the state this weekend.

RE: AAC Softball at TU - rabidTU2 - 05-22-2016 10:13 AM

With the losses to Mississippi and WSU in Norman, we are now done for the year. But we need to congratulate the ladies for a successful year and thank them for their effort and dedication. AAC Champions!

Thank you seniors.

Jodi Edmiston
Catherine Horner
Jocelyn Sheffield
Caitlin Sill
Kaitlin Allen

Good luck in the future and come back and see us.

RE: AAC Softball at TU - rabidTU2 - 05-13-2017 02:10 PM

Congratulations to the 2017 #24 ranked TU Softball Team winning both the AAC regular season and now the AAC post season conference tournament with a 1-0 win over the Houston Cougars. Second year in a row. Good job ladies and coach Bargfeldt! IMO Emily Watson is POY and will return next year as a senior. She needs to be considered an All-American Pitcher in 2017-18. Now lets do some damage in the NCAA softball regionals - wherever that may be.

RE: AAC Softball at TU - rabidTU2 - 05-14-2017 11:28 AM

ESPN2 will carry the post season softball selection show tonight at 9pm. Lets hope we stay away from Norman. Also it would be nice if the AAC could get a couple more teams in the tournament (including our new member WSU) as at large selections. Like the "big dance", the seeds and sites are very important.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update: Evidently the game will be shown on the SEC network if you can access that. But there is usually a whiparound coverage on ESPN.

Looks like we're headed back to Norman.

RE: AAC Softball at TU - rabidTU2 - 05-19-2017 03:39 PM

Girls softball beat Arkansas today in Norman regional 5-4. Congratulations and keep winning!

RE: AAC Softball at TU - rabidTU2 - 05-20-2017 09:04 AM

Best case for the TU softball team would be a rainout today. That would mean our ace pitcher Emily Watson gets rested and could go a full game come Sunday. Don't know if it will work out that way, but if it did, we would be in good shape to take the regional. But of course its difficult to beat defending National Champs OU at home under any circumstances. We just need a little "providencial" assistance.

RE: AAC Softball at TU - rabidTU2 - 05-25-2017 10:08 AM

TU's season is over and of course the final game was once again in Norman, OK. That is something our girls have absolutely no control over as well as those selected for us to play. So IMO our softball team was a complete success and we can now look forward to next year.

There is a lot to be positive about.

1. A #24 national rank.

2. AAC regular season champs.

3. AAC tournament champs.

4. A 41-17 record.

5. Wins against multiple top ranked programs from the SEC, Big 12, PAC 12.

6. With the exception of the Withee sisters, all our starters return next year.

*Obviously we need to find or develope one or two more front line pitchers. If that gets done, we'll be even better. The league should be tougher next year with the addition of WSU in it.

Bump

RE: AAC Softball at TU - Hurricane Drummer - 03-18-2018 03:03 PM

We started the season ranked #20 in the country. Then immediately proceeded to tank. We can never have nice things. (Also see TU football 2013)
