I've tasted both and to me it's no comparison that black is better than double black. IMHO, double black is like the red label but with smoke added in. I think it's more harsh, and not surprising considering you do not see any age statement on the double black label. It's about $10/bottle more expensive than the black label with more smoke and harsh flavors. A waste of money and simply an attempt to ride the coattails of the black label.

I only drink single malts, so I don't have an opinion. However, I did read up a bit and the Double Black adds more peaty malts, which are my favorites. So I'd probably choose the DB.

The Green sounds interesting as it blends Talisker, Linkwood, Cragganmore, and Caol Ila; all but Linkwood I've tried and like. I should get some and try it out.

As an aside, did you know that the bottles are square because they shipped with less breakage, to India during the Raj.
