Idaho at South Alabama discussion thread - JoeJag - 11-03-2015 12:56 PM

Vandals play the USA Jags at Ladd-Peebles Stadium Saturday at 2:00 o'clock. South is a slight favorite but should be close.

The Cold War is coming to Mobile.

Should be close, but won't be if Idaho plays D the same way they did in the 2nd half in Las Cruces. It was like they decided the game was already won and they could stop playing hard. Embarrassing. Hopefully everybody learned some lessons from that debacle.

Meanwhile, I can't figure USA out at all. Seems like they win games they should lose and get blown out of games they should be competitive in. I don't know what to think this week.

I watched a lot of the Vandal/Aggie game, and agree . . . Vandals kinda took their foot off the gas defensively in the second half . . . . But I also have to tip my cap to an Aggie O that never gave up, and did what they had to do to secure a W.

. . . Still, if I'm USA, I wouldn't take these Vandals for granted . . . . . Should be a good game. . . .

Trust me, we have no room to take anyone lightly right now. You can bet our team's full attention is on the Vandals for this week.

South Alabama knows embarrassing as in the Texas State loss. If our bunch plays like they did in that game, UI should have a cakewalk. I just hope we have learned some lessons from that fiasco.

Idaho,

Please bring the team that played in the second half of the game last week.

Thanks,
Enjoy Mobile!!!! (But not to much)

RE: Idaho at South Alabama discussion thread - LatahCounty - 11-03-2015 07:44 PM

Idaho LB Marc Millan suspended for this game due to the leg wrench against the NMSU QB last week. Totally justified suspension, in my opinion.

RE: Idaho at South Alabama discussion thread - Usajags - 11-03-2015 07:55 PM

Dumb move on his part and left the conference no choice. Hopefully we can exploit the fact that he won't be there.

GO JAGS!!!! We need this one.

RE: Idaho at South Alabama discussion thread - LatahCounty - 11-03-2015 08:01 PM

Someone on the Vandal board says the conference suspension is 1 game and Idaho tacked on another game after that. Not 100% sure if that's true but I wouldn't be surprised.

RE: Idaho at South Alabama discussion thread - kevinwmsn - 11-03-2015 08:55 PM

We got to get a win this week to have a chance for a bowl.

You guys have a chance for a 5-win season with wins over USA and Tex. ST.

RE: Idaho at South Alabama discussion thread - nsavandal09 - 11-04-2015 12:45 PM

IMO USA wins by 15

Idaho's offense hinged on Epps who it seems is gone for good. We have some talented young guys behind him so we'll be fine for next year but an extra 2 camps will help. Penny has been amazing running the ball but the OL can't handle blocking in obvious running situations. So you'll see him average probably 6 ypc between the 20's and on 1st/2nd down, but on 3rd and short or goal he doesn't have anywhere to go, it's incredibly frustrating.

Idaho's D is down to about 18 players. Last week counting Epps we planned on having 3 offensive players switch sides to defense and had 1 backup DB available. That depth was a huge factor in that 2nd half collapse IMO. With Millan gone too that won't help either. I wouldn't be shocked to see us cover the halftime spread then lose it late.

I think the NMSU loss was a huge letdown and a symptom of no depth and I don't think we can recover from that. IMO this season has already been a success, we're pointed in the right direction and now it's all about getting ready for next year when we return a ton of offensive weapons and have another recruiting class so we can have another 28 kids on campus to fill the 2 deep.

I think 15 points is way too many. USA almost NEVER covers the spread as a favorite.

No one really knows what to expect from South. I personally thought the Jags could easily whip TXST, but that sure as heck didn't happen.

South Al can surely hang their head on that loss. Your Jaguars can hang it up going to a bowl game this year.

RE: Idaho at South Alabama discussion thread - MWC Tex - 11-04-2015 04:58 PM

USA by 21 at least. Besides that Idaho is terrible, playing on the road twice with traveling to Alabama after traveling to New Mexico will really wear on them beside the emotional loss last week.

RE: Idaho at South Alabama discussion thread - SkullyMaroo - 11-04-2015 08:45 PM

This is homecoming for USA. The 1972 USA Baseball team, the first of two Jag baseball teams to be ranked #1 in the country, will be in attendance.

RE: Idaho at South Alabama discussion thread - LatahCounty - 11-05-2015 12:27 AM

Football fans are bipolar. Last week people were talking about Idaho being bowl-eligible. One bad half and suddenly we're back to "Idaho is terrible, they'll never win another game."

The truth, as always, is in the middle. Idaho has the same defensive depth problems they've had all season, but that didn't stop them from shutting down Troy & ULM. Losing Epps hurts, but it didn't stop them from putting up 48 without him last week.

I see two fairly evenly matched teams. If the game were in Moscow I'd like Idaho to win but since it's in Mobile I'd give a slight edge to the Jaguars. Either way, should be a fun game.

We have no running game and it will be raining.
