Game 8 - JMU - Tribal - 10-25-2015 08:47 AM

We're 5-2 (3-1) and on a 3-game decisive winning streak.

Obviously a huge game and will certainly be a capacity crowd.

We had JMU where we wanted them last season after 3 quarters but we had a disastrous 4th quarter and lost by a TD. Our defense held Lee to a little over 50 yards on the ground but he killed us in the air.

It's no newsflash that we have to run KA and MAS down their throats with possessions that result in TDs. If we can establish a running game early, I think Doc has a breakout day where play action opens up some 40+ yard passes.

Weekly injury report may alter this but I have Tribe winning 45-34, 235 yards for KA, 70 yards for MAS, and Doc throws for 320 yards and 2 TDs.

Lee may out for JMU. It appears he was hurt late in the game yesterday. Apparently a leg injury

I understand their return man/DB sustained a significant injury. Hope the young man will be okay. I haven't seen anything concrete on Lee's injury but you have to think he would've come back in yesterday if he could. I hope their staff takes caution and allows him to rest a couple weeks.

Nicely worded and crafted post.....COGSCOGS

This would be a very nice outcome and the Tribe is quite capable of all of this. Injured players on both teams will play a part. I like our depth across the board, and that will be the difference. The guys stepping up will do their job well enough, maybe even contribute a play or two.

Bring out again the old-time style All-Green uniforms for JMU, Jimmye!

They are a big hit with the players, looked great, and the crowd around us
(admittedly, mostly middle-aged or older alums) commented on them and really liked the look.

These are the unis, by the way, of the great W&M teams of the 1940s.
Look up the old photos of Buster Ramsey and Jack Cloud.

They look like pajamas. Bring back the gold pants.

Gold pants or gtfo

From the JMU board. I have no idea of it's accuracy.

From reliable source, Vad is out for the rest of the season. He will have surgery today to put a steel rod in his ankle. He appArently suffered a bone separation in his ankle. Also was told by this source that Tutt is also out for season with broken Ankle. The news brought tears to my eyes!

RE: Game 8 - JMU - TribeNomad - 10-25-2015 01:28 PM

Oh my......I heard rumblings of the sort relative to Lee. Tutt is their return guy.

RE: Game 8 - JMU - Tribeheart - 10-25-2015 01:54 PM

Spider friends there yesterday said Lee was very, very good. Sorry to ever see a talented kid lose his season.

Back-up QB Bryan Schor played pretty well. 4-6 throwing, 73 yds, no interceptions, 1 td, 3 runs, 18 yds, 1 td.

The key: time of possession, UR - 37:51, JMU - 22:59.
Can't score if you don't have the ball. Penalties hurt JMU.

Still have not seen us consistently string together possession drives, and put it in the endzone.

Would expect JMU to be better on Saturday without all of the hullabaloo.

RE: Game 8 - JMU - zablenoise - 10-25-2015 02:11 PM

Sorry to see Lee hurt. Not sorry that we may not be playing against him. I think even without Lee they'll be a tough test though.

RE: Game 8 - JMU - Greengoldman - 10-25-2015 02:13 PM

My 3 keys to a win vs JMU:
1. We will need to stop the run much better than we did against UD
2. Get the ball in the end zone (not settle for FGs).
3. Win (or at least be even in) the turnover battle.

I was shocked when looking at the stats that we don't have a single fumble recovery on defense this year - is that true?

Agree 100% on all accounts. If we think they won't be ready for us with or without Lee, we deserve to lose.

And they still managed to score 49!

Some of you may not like all-green unis but fact is Laycock and players really love them.
Players requested them for Homecoming, building on last year's game.

Correct- 8 fumbles, all recovered by the opposition. W&M's fumbled 7 times and recovered 4 of them, so 4 of 15 total fumbles have been recovered by W&M. They're due for a game where fumble luck breaks their way, though if you want to argue their lack of fumble luck is countered by opposing kickers missing chip shot FGs you may have a point.

RE: Game 8 - JMU - tribe_pride - 10-25-2015 07:12 PM

We also have an 11 to 1 advantage on Interceptions so we are +7 in net turnovers

RE: Game 8 - JMU - Tribal - 10-25-2015 07:46 PM

JMU boards crack me up. Man, one game and several posters have them not making the playoffs. JMU is a great team with an excellent HC...even losing a POY type of player like Lee doesn't change that. We all remember losing to JMU squads we should've crushed so this game is just as important now as it was 2 days ago. Let's keep our momentum and roll through the line-up.

Really looking forward to this game. The team will prepare well and I hope we get a great turnout for a third straight home game. I hope Dedmon will be able to go.
