Cajuns are an 18 point favorite vs. Northwestern State
Texas State is a 29 point favorite vs. Prairie View A&M
Troy is a 3.5 04-jawdrop point favorite vs. Charleston Southern

Take Troy and WMU (03-banghead)

Why are you surprised by ours? We could very well lose this game... They beat Liberty last year and lost to Vandy 21-20. This is a new year of course. But they return 17 starters.

I expect a close one.

The lines are created to have even money on both sides, not to predict the outcome. I personally would still expect a name like Troy playing an FCS school to have a larger spread than that. I could see you guys losing the game as well. Heck, they beat us just 2 years ago 03-weeping

Triple option team

RE: Current Lines for week 2 - Paraprosdokian - 09-09-2015 11:19 AM

Not to beat my chest, but has a Sunbelt team every been considered so close to a ranked team, let alone a ranked SEC team?

RE: Current Lines for week 2 - runninjoe - 09-09-2015 11:35 AM

Doesn't mean much if we go get beat like we did at USC. The line does seem really low though.

RE: Current Lines for week 2 - Paraprosdokian - 09-09-2015 11:43 AM

Dude, have you had your Zoloft today?

I think the line is right. We showed some fire against USC, and Mizzou didn't exactly crush SEMO. Factor in home field advantage and 10 points is logical.

It depends. I don't remember what the line was when Troy and SOuth hosted their recent SEC games. We were narrow underdogs against a ranked Kent State team in the 2013 Go Daddy Bowl.

I believe Mississippi State opened as 14.5 point favorite over USA last year. I'm not sure what the final line was though.

Amazing how fast a team can fall.

Troy was 7 point underdogs to #10 Georgia in 2007.

We pretty much covered it too

If App and cover the spread with Clemson, and make it a game for 3 quarters I would be happy.

RE: Current Lines for week 2 - AppAttack - 09-09-2015 03:56 PM

Clemson has a very good defense and can score in bunches. Watson could be a Heisman candidate. They are young though. Hope we can hang in there. We could cover or get blown out, no idea. We'll see.

This reminds me of the 2007 Michigan game in a couple of aspects. We have Marcus Cox who is on pace to break Kevin Richardson's numbers. We have a sophomore QB who is an up and comer and could be a sleeper pick for OPOY in the conference. And Clemson is replacing most of last years top ranked defense.

That said, I understand there are several differences as well and that one game has no effect on the other. It's just fun to connect dots that really have no bearing on the game whatsoever. I expect Clemson to cover the spread but if you're the underdog, "If you keep it a game into the fourth quarter, you give yourself a shot to win."

Speaking of covering spreads -- did anybody from Southern lose their ass on that 30-point opening line or was that BS?

I seriously thought about betting big on that. Glad I had better sense, for once.

RE: Current Lines for week 2 - moehler - 09-10-2015 12:27 PM

honestly, if I had the money, I would have bet GS to cover the spread, thought that was easy money to make....glad I don't gamble for a living.

I seriously thought about it originally, but I'm glad I remembered I don't bet on my own team.

That would have hurt. Vegas made a lot of money off of us.
