Chris Stratton getting it done - Mrs. Got Ribe - 07-31-2015 08:04 PM

Chris Stratton running lines in support of new basketball donors. Fun to see some of those names out there. And, I think Chris has been away from the game for too long.

Thanks Chris. Well done!

Seeing those names was an awesome trip down memory lane. But all of them were first time donors? Hmmmm

So, essentially no mbb player in the past decade had donated $ until Chris offered this. Agree, Destro...hmmmm.

Don't look back. Look forward.

Nice job, Chris!!!

Roll Tribe!!!

That is not entirely true.

In the past I have received a letter from "Friends of W&M Men's Basketball" listing contributors to men's basketball. I am always surprised at how short this list is but for the year ending July 2012 there are recent graduate names that I recognize: Adam Hess, Marcus Kitts, JohnMark Ludwick, David Schnieder, Chris Stratton, Adam Trumbower; in addition there are contiributions from a number of player parents.

The list also includes Jim and Jane Kaplan and Alan B Miller, who funded MILLER HALL at the W&M Business School and played basketball for the Indians in the 1950s.

I think it is great what Chris Stratton is doing and I have to believe that with an organized CONTINUOUS approach to basketball alums we could significently increase contributions from this group.

How about scheduling some Men's Basketball Reunions and inviting all former players back for a get together every other year or so??

We used to do a reunion weekend scheduled around a home game, but it kind of died out. I'd be game, since I'm always looking for excuses to get back.

This was for new donors in the 2015 fiscal year. Can confirm that plenty of those alumni have given back at some point before, just hadn't yet given by June 23 in 2014-15. The men's basketball alumni have done an increasingly better job of giving back over the last several years which you can see on the Tribe Club website.

This. Plus 10.

The names in the video were those who made donations in the last couple weeks of the fiscal year. Most donations (and there were way more this fiscal than just the names in the video) had already been made, but with a few weeks to go Chris offered to run a suicide for each additional donation made before the end of the fiscal year.

Since taking over his role, Chris has done a better job of keeping former players connected to the program. And it has resulted in more donations.

There have been some reunions in the past, but, at least for me, there is never enough notice to plan to attend. I don't live near Williamsburg so I can't just drive over.

That was impressive. Is Chris Stratton employed by The College? If not, he should be.

He is.

Looks like this link hasn't been updated in awhile, but I believe his position is still valid:

I know this is a homer comment, but I continue to be so very impressed with the people this College brings in and puts back out. There's a common cord - just not sure how I could best put it in words.

If I happened to just see this without knowing who Chris was, I would likely think, this guys seems so William & Mary.
