So, wait, it is okay to put hundreds/thousands of folding chairs on the field but it is not okay for someone to cut across the field while exiting the stadium after a game?

Obviously, and I mean OBVIOUSLY, they will put something down to protect the field turf.

Thanks Tribal. Yeah, that is a big DUH. Try to grow a sense of humor.

Speaking of a sense of humor, we haven't heard from Rocco in several weeks. Is he on vacation? Heaven forbid, hopefully he didn't get banned!

I can't imagine he's been banned. Hopefully he hasn't gone too far: Rocco offers well researched posts and provides a boatload of useful stats to back up his opinions.

This leaves the door wide open for a more intimate and improved Kaplan.

And this is the big take away. I like the change.

Back in 2010, I had several friends with larger families that couldn't make it. Glad they'll be able to expand the size.

Love the photo.

It does show that the old stands could use a serious power-wash!

I may have missed a discussion or thread about this somewhere, but will there no longer be seating at the scoreboard endzone? This seating chart appears as though it is gone.

Sad, but not shocking. Those endzone GA sections can/will likely change every year based on demand. Fans/players love having seats right there on the endzone like that, but aside from Homecoming the permanent stands often had a fair amount of space. HAving that end open does allow for other stuff down there (food trucks, kids stuff) so people can still see the game while down there.

Why not remove the stands at the other endzone? The arches are actually attractive to look at, while the butt of the UC is, well...

I kinda like the look of that side of the UC. What does that say about me?

RE: Zable Stadium Renovation - nogretheogre - 05-02-2018 08:42 PM

The UC side is much larger than the arched side. It is going to feel awfully empty in there, even with few food trucks. The scoreboard will be floating in no-mans-land. Nothing says competitive football like a bunch of bounce houses for the kiddos
03-banghead

Once again, major opportunity was lost when building this new wellness center/sports medicine on top of the lodges. It should have been vertical and in that space, having a few luxury boxes on the back end overhanging the endzone, a la ODU's structure (w parking). Does anyone have a true plan or do we just pick and choose things haphazardly from the 20 year outline?

RE: Zable Stadium Renovation - Tribeheart - 05-02-2018 09:05 PM

The openness in the endzones is why I feel UR's stadium is so sterile, and lacking in atmosphere.

RE: Zable Stadium Renovation - nj alum - 05-03-2018 06:36 AM

Perhaps the "open end" of Cary / Zable will resemble the "open end" of the Kap / Hall?

Now if they could get rid of half court seats on one side of the Kap / Hall, both venues would have two open areas not normally seen in normal venues.

Of course, on the issue of normal venues, having no video boards is also unique.

I would like to think that someone, somewhere, has voiced the opinion that home venues are supposed to be intimidating, so the home team wins, so the fans are happy, so wallets are opened, etc.

One way to make a venue intimidating is to place fans close to the action. There are two such places at Cary/Zable. We're removing one of them?
