Minnesota game - Proff - 12-26-2014 03:18 PM

As of now we are 17 point dogs. If we play like we did at campbell, we won't be able to cover a 30 point spread.

Hopefully the campbell game can be chalked up to an unmotivated bunch playing an afternoon away game two days before Christmas. We will see

The line is now 19.5. Yes, we shall see.

I was on my way to Wilmington to visit my mother who was having hip surgery. She's a real trooper and it looks like she's going to be okay! I looked for the game on the radio and found it. We were down 9-2 when I tuned in. At that point I simply thought, get the game tied at half and pull away. Well, the Hawks didn't pull away and they stayed in it and I've seen enough of the Campbell games away to know that it was going down to the wire at about the 10 minute mark. It was a sick feeling going down there but since my Mom did okay, I was good. Still, you hate to see our Hawks not win when they are supposed to win. They were feeling it and we were loose with the ball and didn't move the ball prudently and effectively enough to score. Hopefully they learned a lesson.

I wouldn't worry about that line moving. It doesn't matter for this game. UNCW needs to come out with a determined attitude and play better defense plus share the ball. Talley is an emerging player for UNCW and he will continue to show why he was a 3 star recruit. It all starts and ends at the PG position and he's a good one. Look for a good effort Saturday and look for that game to be under 15 points as well, if not closer.

I don't see this as a blowout.

Minnesota is not a real big team, and they play a style of ball we are used to practicing against.
Although their record and stats look good, they don't have any really quality wins.

Their best win is a 4 point win over Georgia, and they beat Wake by 15.

They've lost to Louisville by 13 and St. Johns by 9.

They beat Furman by 10 on December 22nd. at home. Furman is horrible.

Primary players:

Hollins - 6'2" 195lb. Sr. G
Morris - 6'5" 175lb. Jr. G
Mathieu - 5'9" 170lb. Sr. G
Mason - 6'1" 185lb. Fr. G
Walker - 6'10" 255lb. RsSr. F
King - 6'9" 235lb. Jr. F

Proff, we also out-sized Campbell. I see what you're saying at, and the past results for Minnesota against less than quality opponents though. I'm just not willing to put our "size" as a reason we can succeed in a game after watching a small Campbell squad spread us out and murder us with jump shots.

RE: Minnesota game - 70shawk - 12-27-2014 01:22 PM

Man...we are really turning the ball over. That's got to stop or this will be a LONG afternoon....

RE: Minnesota game - billthebighawksfan - 12-27-2014 01:22 PM

Hawks beating Minnesota about midway 1st half but are committing TO's like crazy!! Hawks up 2, but this won't last if we keep TO's going....have 7 already.

RE: Minnesota game - billthebighawksfan - 12-27-2014 01:23 PM

We were thinking the same thing 70's!

RE: Minnesota game - billthebighawksfan - 12-27-2014 01:27 PM

Hawks up 5 due to good shooting.

RE: Minnesota game - billthebighawksfan - 12-27-2014 01:41 PM

Horrible TO's! Down 9 now.

RE: Minnesota game - 70shawk - 12-27-2014 01:41 PM

Ponder looks like he's in over his head....

RE: Minnesota game - billthebighawksfan - 12-27-2014 01:45 PM

Pugh with a walk now....that makes 14 TO's. Now Talley with 3 fouls.

RE: Minnesota game - billthebighawksfan - 12-27-2014 01:54 PM

Keatts gets a technical foul. Hawks down 16 at the break. The Gophers are one of the best, if not the best, in steals. Hawks are helping them out.

RE: Minnesota game - 70shawk - 12-27-2014 01:55 PM

Malik Pugh is a little wild, but his speed and penetration is helpful out there today.

Minnesota game - Seahawkhoops - 12-27-2014 01:59 PM

I'm sure Pitinos son took lessons from the Louisville game

RE: Minnesota game - 82hawk - 12-27-2014 02:01 PM

Turnovers on 42% of our possessions.

Man, we really need Talley on the floor, but he can't seem to stay out of foul trouble.

ZERO free throw attempts compared to 14....really?

RE: Minnesota game - billthebighawksfan - 12-27-2014 02:30 PM

Sounds like our Hawks should not press or just token press them. They are scoring far too easily. Hawks down 20.

Wonder why Sherwood is a dnp?

RE: Minnesota game - billthebighawksfan - 12-27-2014 02:41 PM

Dylan has been out there. They have not allowed him to get going.
