I was impressed with that comeback win by Missouri St but they will really have to step up the competition if they want to get noticed.

Umass should probably be added, but USM will not be kicked out of the C-USA which currently is the only reason they would join us.

I was surprised with how bad JMU was last week, i'll be interested to see if they can walk over Lehigh or not.
Liberty should win
EKU might upset Miami
MSU is going to get clobbered.

By the way Virginia apparently cut JMU's budget by 5-7% over the next couple of years.

That has nothing to do with athletic budget

It could. They have to make that up or cut costs. If you raise tuition you face fee pressure. If you freeze salaries you face headwinds justifying FBS transition costs, etc.

Almost all public schools have either frozen or cut budgets in the past 3 years. The thing is for most their athletic budget is a tint portion of their overall athletic budget. I know education budgets have been dicey in Georgia for years and yet our athletic budget continues to increase.

If the Sun Belt can wait 5 or 6 years, Coastal Carolina should be the pick. They are quietly putting together a solid all-around athletic department. The fanbase just needs time to grow.

Its worth keeping an eye on. They already seem to have internal resistance to an FBS move. A budget cut can't help but impact that.

This is the real issue. If there is no institutional support then it doesnt matter what your budget is and right now there is zero support for a move

They would be a good 6th or 7th pick 07-coffee3

Sun Belt said previously that Coastal Carolina was not being considered.

I'm not a big fan of Coastal in the conference.

Less than 10,000 students
Low alumni numbers
Endowment under 18 million
Thinly populated area, and many area residents are transplants that would presumably retain loyalties elsewhere.

RE: SBC Prospect Schools Week 1 - EigenEagle - 09-06-2014 01:00 PM

JMU down 21-10 to Lehigh.

I wonder if they want Mickey Matthews back yet?

RE: SBC Prospect Schools Week 1 - AppinVA - 09-06-2014 01:14 PM

Maybe JMU doesn't want to play FCS football either.
