"...pursuing what some would think a man who earned more than a million dollars as a pro athlete would neither want nor need."

Was this article written in 1960? A million dollars is not really enough to say I don't need to work any more. Also, wouldn't he have earned more than that in a pro career of 10 years?

My son tells me that FU money a few years ago was 5M now it is more like 10M. (that is available hard cash)

So 1-2M is quite a bit short.

He was a high overall pick a decade ago and made 1.418m in 2012 alone.

Maybe they meant 1-2M per year :>)

So hopefully he is in the FU range!

Minimum salary for someone in the show, now, is $500,000, I believe. Of course, minor league guys don't make anywhere near that.

Bill was in my Marketing Research class (and in my small team of 5 people) last semester, so I worked with him weekly. Awesome, awesome guy. If any athlete deserves to get their degree paid in-full, I would say it should be Bill. Very kind and incredibly hard-working guy with an old school mentality all around.

For all you Twitter junkies, his handle is @wpbray. If you shoot him a message or tweet, I'm sure he'd respond, he's that kind of guy.

Vic Raschi, one of the finest pitchers of his era (the late Forties to the mid-Fifties), was part of the Raschi-Reynolds-Lopat trio of starters who helped the Yankees win five consecutive World Series Championships from 1949 through 1953. he made numerous All-Star teams and has one of the top ten all-time best pitchers' winning percentages for pitchers with more than 125 wins.

He attended and pitched for W&M and came back for more than a decade to finally earn his degree. Raschi is in the Tribe HOF and remains the greatest baseball player the College has produced.
