A/V Streaming amongst SB Schools - McLeansvilleAppFan - 07-08-2014 09:21 AM

Does the various schools that have the same A/V streaming service share the video/audio feeds between each other. App has NeuLion, and I noticed a few other SB schools did as well. In the past the SoCon schools and even out of conference schools would share if both had NeuLion. I assume that may continue.

Do any of the SB schools offer free streaming? I assume not, but a few SoCon schools did this as well, which was nice since the schools offering the free streaming were never on NeuLion to begin with.

The shared streaming is nice, not so much for FB with the coverage the SB gets on TV, but for the Olympic sports it was nice, though it was not for every sport and not every event.

I think ULM has Neulion too.

Most have Neulion I believe.. stAte does, but it's hit or miss re: sharing of feeds for away games. That said, most are espn3 if it's not televised. Get Chromecast and u can wirelessly cast ur game to ur TV!

Believe Georgia Southern has or had free video streaming.

I think the ones not on NeuLion are on SideArm. We've already heard that the Sidearm schools will be sharing streams, or at least every attempt will be made to.

I've always hated JumpTV through Neulion. We never had a good experience with them at all.

AppStateTV has had issues, and those on this board can list them. From what I can tell some of the issues have been with NeuLion but some are on App's end with inadequate servers and such to meet demand. I imagine the same can be said for GaSo, in that the problems are shared by multiple parties.

I thought I noticed GaSo went to free streaming last year. I assumed that was from lack of interest and it was not worth the money to deal with a few dollars. I see GaSo is back to $80 annual. I would be surprised if any SB schools did free streaming, as that gives the appearance, in my view, of lack of interest and that can't be the case with FBS schools at least in appearances.

Actually we went in house for a year (2012) after we severed from NeuLion. We couldn't get anything setup in time for the year, and we were still running our website on NeuLion so it limited our options. We used Livestream that year and honestly it was a fantastic viewing experience, I miss it now. We didn't have to pay Livestream nearly as much to carry our broadcasts like we did NeuLion.

However, we dealth with Sidearm to redo our website and they have an integrated streaming solution so we decided to go with that. Along with that came the return to subscription fees, however there's a lot more content and it's a lot higher quality than it ever was before.

Speaking to the choir....their feed failed during our Sun Belt Conference announcement. At least they couldn't blame it on too many football games being carried or something else off the wall.

Believe all schools should be doing their own. Has to be enough talent out there to handle it, with free to paid subscribers of other SBC teams as a benefit.
Would think that is one thing the conference could really push that would help all schools, and in turn give more experience to college students at each SBC school.

I wish we'd invest in more ESPN3 telecasts. Neulion tends to lag more and has more frequent credential issues. Besides I prefer to just watch on my Apple TV though I'm fine with using airplay from my ipad other games.

TXST has SideArm. I don't think it is shared.
