A couple years ago after years of not having a trophy for the game ECU and NC State starting playing for the pork barrel. No one really seems to care much about the trophy though because it has no history which is what makes trophy games cool. I doubt anyone at App or GSU would really care about the trophy either.

Big difference, both parties have to consider the other a rival, at least at first. NCSU does not consider ECU an equal and therefore not a true rival.

App and GSU hate yet respect each other's program, it would matter.
Lmao whatever! ECU has won the last two and 6 out of the last 10 vs NC State!

Doesn't matter they don't consider you a rival, don't believe it, just ask them. Laugh it up...

Crisp mountain air vs farty bog gas

Isn't that the App State spring game?

FYI: Statesboro is neither a swamp or a bog.

Flat lands. I honestly have no idea where some app fans get the "stink" reference from unless they stayed in Savannah and are talking about paper mills there. But you cant smell that from Statesboro.

It did smell worse on the drive from Savannah, but there really is an odor about Statesboro. Maybe it's from that stagnant creek. Maybe it's fupa sweat and bad breath. Who knows?

Your fans are the only ones that complain about a smell.

RE: Name for Georgia Southern-App. State game? - SpeedkingATL - 06-12-2014 08:19 AM

Just call the game "the Good Old Fashioned Hate Bowl". The trophy could be a crow on a plate as one team or the other has to eat crow after the game every year.

It's not like App brought more than 200-300 fans anyway.

We had 1-2k in 2012. My only trip so I have no frame of reference.

Oh, and if that stadium had 22k people in it, Kidd Brewer averages 40k+. I mean there is no way. The place is very small.

App doesn't travel as well to GSU as you guys do to Boone no doubt, but who can blame them. A weekend in 70 degrees and no humidity with the leaves changing in the blue ridge mountains vs. 85, 90% humidity and gnats...

That said, 300 visiting App fans is hyperbole.

You guys are just thrown off due to the angle of the bleachers. We have a very flat first level that is deceiving. I was at that game, too, and there were definitely 20,000 + there. All seats were filled (at that time 14,400) and the hills were pretty much filled too.

Oh how you mountain folks can whine. I guess you never go to the beach either. All you need for gnats is a little Skin So Soft. But if you really want to be chic:

Come on flatlanders, you know those gnats are about the size of hawks. That's why you have your Eagle, Freedom, flying around the stadium to scare them away. Two of those gnats could take away a small child.

Of course we go to the beach. The beach has redeeming qualities like the ocean. Statesboro has all the down side items of being close to the beach and none of the good.

So you would brave the elements for the ocean but not to support your team huh, or is this just an attempt at bashing Statesboro?

RE: Name for Georgia Southern-App. State game? - Saint3333 - 06-13-2014 01:49 PM

Definitely bashing Statesboro.

I've visited 3 times.

Statesboro as a city isn't a place people tend to visit. I'd wager that when GSU alums visit they prefer to stay in Savannah.

No going to lie, outside of the stadium, there isn't much in terms of tourist attractions in statesboro.

It's a great little town to live in though.

True.

False. I would say most stay in Statesboro and choose to take a day trip out to Savannah, not the other way around.

Statesboro is a fine town. Have seen a lot worse.

Now that's funny right there, I don't care who you are.
