Report: Idaho hires Molnar as WR coach - dmacfour - 06-05-2014 11:57 PM

http://www.spokesman.com/blogs/sportslink/2014/jun/05/report-idaho-hires-molnar-wr-coach/

Quote:The hiring of Molnar, which Idaho has not announced, is likely the last in a series of coaching changes for the Paul Petrino-led Vandals. Offensive coordinator/receivers coach Kris Cinkovich took over as offensive line coach after Jon Carvin left the staff last month. Molnar will replace Cinkovich as receivers coach, while Cinkovich will still serve as offensive coordinator and assistant head coach.

Not sure if that is a good or bad move, but hope the best for the Vandals
coach knowing what he is doing. Interesting background.

Hopefully he does better when he's not calling the shots; his resume looked impressive up until he became a HC.

That's true. Some of the best assistants cannot be a head coach
but fantastic position assistants.

Oh boy. I feel really bad for the Vandals wide receivers. They have no idea what they are in for.

We had a booster donate $800,000 to buy out Charley's contract. That's how bad people wanted him gone.

The jump from non-play calling OC to HC was too much for him. Wish him luck with the Vandals.

RE: Report: Idaho hires Molnar as WR coach - Kittonhead - 06-07-2014 07:26 AM

I guess he can take a salary of 30,000 as a WR coach at Idaho since he's sitting on a nice buyout.

I don't think the problem is Molnar. The problem is he was playing in a division in which UConn and Boston College would have struggled to compete in the last 2 years. Buffalo blasted UConn and Bowling Green has a better defense than most SEC schools at the moment. Ohio kicked Penn State's butt, shutting them out in the second half and they have been only a .500 MAC team the last 2 years.

Fine. (sarcasm) Molnar was certainly not part of the solution as a HC. Hope he does fine for the Vandals as a position coach. Agree he seems to be a steal at 30k. It's good for him and Vandals team and fans.

Did this genius just claim Bowling Green has a better defense than most SEC schools?

Speechless.

Bowling Green 2013 National Rank

34.8 PPG (39th)
15.9 DPG (5th)

http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/189/bowling-green-falcons

They were 5th overall in the country on defense last season and beat an undefeated Northern Illinois team in the MAC Championship game.

They held Mississippi State to 21 points on the road mid season last year. When I say better than most SEC schools I mean better than 7 or 8 of them, which the statistics back up.

Did you really just compare BGSU defense to that of the average SEC defense? Did you forget that BGSU played a MAC schedule and not a SEC schedule? Next time you should think before you post.

They may have played a MAC schedule but 5th in the country is a TCU/Boise State level defense.

If they were 30th in the country ranked ahead of 7-8 SEC schools statistically I'd give you the fact that it was a MAC schedule.

5th in the country and ranked above all but 4 schools you've got something good going on there.....

Except for the fact that that top 5 ranking is inflated by playing a MAC schedule. You could maybe make a case for having a better defense than 1 SEC school but no more than that. And before you try to refute, understand the difference in offensive quality in the SEC compared to that of the MAC. I do think that Bowling Green had the top G5 defense but it in no way compares to that of the SEC. (and no I'm not an SEC fan. Those D-bags can suck a fat one)

I can assure you that Buffalo does not have a better defense than most of the SEC.

Hope Idaho made the right decision.
Have no real knowledge of the MAC or SEC discussion topics.

I'm not saying Buffalo, I'm only saying Bowling Green.

Buffalo did have a Top 5 NFL draft pick this year on defense though.

point taken but no MAC team has a defense better than MOST of the SEC.
