What are all of our secondary tie-ins? Just those two? How exactly do those types of tie-ins work?

I dont believe you guys have secondaries to the Liberty or Indy

I misread. My apologies.

This is great news for the SBC. Too little, too late for WKU unfortunately. Oh well, that is the past. Good luck with the new bowls!

I like the potential matchups. I still think a game with the AAC in Little Rock made a lot of sense. As an ASU fan I would love to play Memphis or SMU so we could beat them both again but in a bowl game.

You are correct. CUSA has one thing over the SBC now with regards to bowls. And that is a bowl tie in with a P5 opponent. But most years that bowl tie in will not be a team from the P5 with a winning record.

CUSA still has more TV exposure/money (although I think that will start to even out)

CUSA has better basketball (although the gap is narrowing).

Score! Love me some Orlando! Going next month actually!!

This will likely become our top bowl. Best city (IMO) against a better opponent.

Moving to CUSA is like moving in with a recent divorcee who is getting a fat alimony check only to find out two years later when the money runs out that your old house was as nice as the one you are living in now.

The gap is narrowing?

The Sun Belt loses WKU and replaces them with a pair of sub-300 teams and that narrows the gap?

The Sun Belt as a conference next year will be SWAC bad.

Sun Belt - AAC in Little Rock would have made a lot of sense with Tulsa, SMU, Houston, and Memphis all a decent drive, but the greater need was in the east.

This is awesome. Not just the 4th bowl game but the fact that it pairs us with arguably the best GO5 conference and not with CUSA or MAC.

I would love to see App meet ECU in sunny Florida in the not-too-distant future.

RE: New Bowl In Orlando To Have Sunbelt Ties (begins 2014) - BullsFanInTX - 04-14-2014 04:52 PM

AAC now has 8 primary tie ins and 3 backups for 12 teams. Maybe too many?

Will you all please send us your #1???

I was hoping for a Orlando bowl... Little rock did not sound fun.

But that would be a awesome match up!04-cheers

The gap is narrower than it ever has been.

And next year it will get bigger.

The avg. RPI of CUSA teams this year was 175, avg. RPI of SBC was 200.

Change those numbers to account for the changes to the conference lineups in 2014-15 and the average goes to 172 for C-USA, 228 for SBC.

SBC hoops is gonna be brutal.

Football is gonna be fine with ASU and UL and Troy should rebound and USA is solid this year, but you're eventually gonna have to pay the piper with Idaho, NMSU and the transitionals.

Last year the SBC was solid because you only had one bad team at the bottom, this year, you're going to have at least three.

Wont ever happen unless an Idaho type wins the conference. NO and Go Daddy will always have first picks.

Yea, I'm wondering what kind of AAC team we're actually going to get with this bowl. But still, it is better.

Eight sounds high for the 12 team AAC (only 11 in 2014)---especially given there are 2 AAC backup slots. To be truthful, with 78 bowl slots to fill each post season, I think there will be an open slot for most teams. In fact, I think it will be increasingly rare for any 6-6 team to have to sit home during the post season. I wouldn't be surprised if some 5-7 waivers will need to be issued on occasion in order to fill all these bowls.

If we won the conference I would rather play the AAC and be in Orlando.

Congratulations guys. The SBC has deserved more bowls for a while now. Orlando is a good destination.

In my mind there really is not much seperation between the G5 conferences anymore. We're all very close at the top to each other.

Contract wise though, it will never happen. I still think its time we gave first pick to Go Daddy, especially since NO Bowl is dumping us in 2019, but as a league, we're better off SBC #1 vs MAC #1.
