I should have added this to the SHSU thread, I wasn't thinking. This is the most idiotic argument of all. I see this posted all the time. By this logic than no one has the votes because no one has been added. We could equally say JMU doesn't have the votes since they weren't added. Does Liberty not have the votes? More than likely however we don't know. Last Monday everyone thought Liberty was in and then Tuesday everyone thought JMU. The only Fact on these boards about realignment is that we don't know who is in yet. We will in May. Lamar meets all requirement except stadium size. 4th or 5th? Even if you're just talking college football, there's no way. Texas aTm LSU Houston Rice And that still assumes Lamar is ahead of every other Texas FBS school(doubtful) and the other Houston area FCS teams. Lamar meets all requirement except stadium size. My mistake 8th or 9th fiddle. They also averaged 8k fans per game last year. Putting them roughly 50th in the FCS. Attendence figure is good for 9th in Division 2 football. Might be a better fit there. Actually it makes perfect sense. All the other schools have been hesitant for one reason or another (JMU: the feasibility study, holding out hope for a MAC invite. MSU: Not enough money, not ready to make the jump. EKU: Just recently stated intentions, and making moves to get there). Liberty, on the other hand, could make the move in a matter of days. So, the fact of the matter is: Liberty wasn't invited last year or this year yet because they couldn't get the votes. Could that change? Absolutely. Maybe some teams were holding out hope for JMU, and JMU shuts us down. Maybe the presidents don't like EKU much after looking into them. But it's easily traceable and makes total sense to say that Liberty did not have the votes to get an invite last year, or this year to date. RE: SHSU to SBC - arkstfan - 04-14-2014 12:29 PM MAC's commissioner was recently visiting with SHSU. The MAC hosted the NCAA Bowling Championship. Lamar meets all requirement except stadium size. Lamar is behind SHSU, Texas State, Texas Tech, Baylor, and any number of Big XII and SEC teams in Houston (and probably behind SFA). They have zero profile in Houston. Beaumont has its own media market which it shares with Lake Charles. SHSU by comparison is in a technically different TV market but one that includes much of the Northern suburbs of Houston. SHSU also proves its Houston ties by hosting a game at Reliant Stadium each year. If you say "Lamar football" in Houston, 99% of the people will think you are talking about a high school in Houston's football team. For your sake I hope so to, but apparently they have a shot. SHSU and Lamar are decidedly out of the picture in the immediate future. RE: SHSU to SBC - asupatch - 04-14-2014 12:59 PM At least SHSU has had some football success and has much better attendance figures. Ouch, yeah never mind, sorry SHSU. RE: SHSU to SBC - arkstfan - 04-14-2014 02:54 PM Beyond the fact that Lamar seems to have better facilities than SHSU, let's be realistic. How attractive is a team in TEXAS that can't draw when they are competing at the top of FCS?
