Idaho might need to leave the SBC sooner - SHWISH - 04-11-2014 10:15 PM

Ask yourself, if you were UMKC and Chicago st, would the wac make sense over the summit?

ORU leave slc, slc replace them with UTRG. why? no doubt in my mind UTRG will add football.

3 loses to the wac.

NMSU gets all sports in the Sunbelt, something I am predicting.

4 wac loses.

Idaho has no choice but to find a new home....

One Prediction I guarantee doesn't come true in your theory. Idaho is no longer a member of the WAC as of July 1.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. But the wac looks like it will die.

Well yeah. That's likely going to happen. Hence why Idaho moved to the Big Sky.

After all of NoDak's Big Sky FBS Posts that you tag along with, I would have thought you might have figured that out already.

The Golden Triangle humidity must be affecting your brain. Idaho is leaving for the Big Sky. The WAC is providing a D1 Auto Bid Conference for schools like CSUB, Seattle, Utah Valley, UTRG, Grand Canyon and Chicago State. They are all happy to be in the WAC.

The WAC paid UMKC's exit fee of $250,000 and waived the entry fee of $450,000. UMKC got some vague promises of the WAC post-season tournament moving to Kansas City in the future. UMKC does not play baseball. The Summit needed additional baseball schools (they only have five). The WAC does not (they have ten).

NMSU is in a good situation either way. Right now, the WAC is an easier path to the NCAA Tournament. If the MWC decided to add a 12th school for olympic sports, they are right there. They are probably better off staying in the WAC for now.

Today's WAC is not the same as it was when Idaho joined the conference.

Then: Boise State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana Tech, Nevada, New Mexico State, San Jose State, Utah State

Now: Chicago State, CSU Bakersfield, Denver, Grand Canyon, UM Kansas City, Idaho, New Mezico State, Seattle, Utah Valley

Look at the travel cost for Chicago st and UMKC. UTRG is putting together a football program.
Wac collapses, NMSU will need a home. This is a clue for NMSU all sports to SBC.

RE: Idaho might need to leave the SBC sooner - MJG - 04-12-2014 10:02 AM

The WAC is looking to add Texas A&M C.C. , Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Fairbanks also possibly Metro State.
NMSU will move on one day until then they will just pile up tournament appearances.

UT Pan American is merging with UT Brownsville to form UT Rio Grande Valley, and will now have access to the UT Foundation money

No way CC go to the WAC. Travel cost.
Anchorage is going, Maybe fairbanks.
Metro is not moving up, but if they did, they would go Summit.

RE: Idaho might need to leave the SBC sooner - MJG - 04-12-2014 10:21 AM

Idaho is really in a pretty decent situation with reduced travel costs for Olympic sports in the Big Sky. The Sun Belt provides four home games in a conference that Idaho is closer to the top vs bottom in revenue. Idaho will be pretty good this year and better in 2015. I know everyone on here is picking Idaho last in conference that is not going to happen. Returning seventeen starters and adding seventeen JC recruits also helps with depth the next two years. Second year for the coaching staff and a schedule that goes from 72 to 116 .

Yeah I'm optimistic but Idaho was injury riddled and super young last year. We also played nine bowl eligible teams last year . That baptism bye fire along with another year to grow improvement should be expected.

2015 hopefully we win our third bowl game.

The only way I see Corpus Christi leaving the SLC is if the conference requires them to field a football team or leave. That may come down solely to whether New Orleans can do the same.

The WAC may only have marginal interest in Corpus Christi - it plays baseball but not men's soccer.

I'm feeling okay about our offense. Defense, not so much.

The secondary will be the key but the D line will be strong.
Quashon Buckley getting another year plus Hampton means we will be strong up the middle.
