Bid high enough to be the next ASU coach. - Louisianafanrcajun90 - 04-11-2014 05:45 PM

This might be the most pathetic thing I've seen a Belt team do.

Haha. You are about the only one that thinks so. In the words of ESPN "A-State has gotten media exposure that may be worth millions."

Since when is getting someone to write a check for $15K to your school a bad thing?

It's pathetic that's whats wrong with the it. The real question is what's wrong with Arkie State. You can spin this anyways you want but in the end it's pretty sad.

Lets see here. Spring Games are becoming glorified practices at 95 percent of the country. Some coaches are even doing away with them. So as a neat idea to give our fans an opportunity to see what its like on the field during a game, we auction off the opportunity for a fan to coach in the game, much like North Carolina does every season.

We're trying to erase the last year from our mind when coaches gave us essentially zero access to the program, that's what.

We don't have to spin it. ESPN has been doing that for us.

Try Craig's list but I hear it can be dicey.

How much did you bid on it?

Love it. kudos to stAte. If ULL was doing it their fans here would be filling the thread with posts about how awesome it is and how its a sign they are a top notch program destined for the SEC.

Auburn is auctioning off the opportunity to assist the smoke machine staff blow smoke for the spring game entry. Georgia is giving a fan a chance to call one play in the spring game. North Carolina auctioned off coaching duties but only to big boosters. It's a glorified practice.

Y'all need to unclench.

Things work differently for the Cajuns than the rest of us. That's not a bad thing...its just how they market themselves. One thing I have always noticed about the Cajuns is that they market themselves a lot more like a P5 school. It starts with the name issue, it carries to the massive stadium expansion, and the talk of moving to another league. These guys dream of drawing 60K to their games.

At a school like ASU, we choose to market ourselves very differently from everyone else. We choose to take risks on one and done coaches, we choose to decrease stadium capacity in order to increase the stadium experience. We try gimmicks to encourage new fans to buy tickets.

There is nothing wrong with either philosophy. Its just two different ways to go about growing your program.

I like it. good press and attention for a event that is not a real game. plus MONEY.

Actually, I like the idea. It's a good marketing idea. The rest of your post is pure bullshyte.

Every fan base has them. No biggie.

I think its a great idea. most spring games use local radio hosts and weather men as the coaches during spring games. this makes a hell of a lot more sense. I think the real problem is ASU has won three straight football championships and the best ULL could do was tie for one of those and that bothers you.
