EDIT: I also forgot to mention that if you are looking at conference records to determine order of finish I don't think it's THAT unrealistic (admittedly a bit hopeful though). In the last 6 years the 2nd place team finished between 5-2 and 7-1. I can see 6 wins in our conference schedule if we maintain a healthy turnover margin. Don't get me wrong though I'm still mightily pleased with a 6-6 season, but why shoot for 6-6?

No offense to any other team, but GS fans expect to win most of our conference games. Not that it will happen. We have a chance to win every conference game. I don't see any team that I would put as an an automatic loss. Now there are games that will be extremely tough. Away to txst and usa, also home against ulm and troy.
The Appy game is what it is.
I'm excited to have a schedule that has almost every game that will be competitive and fans will want to see live. Also, i predict we go at least 2-2 in ooc games.

For me the key factor will be turnovers. If GS in has a positive margin we win. Last year we turned it over a lot. I could also see us as low as 8th. We aren't pushovers, but neither is any other team.
Also you got a big break in not having to play ASU and ULL...but this is a transition year!

I think GS will fair better than App though.
Wish we played Texas State this year. Odd you think a team
you do play will do better than one you do not play. Did that

I can say this much about the Conference.....best to not take any team lightly...that includes the New additions.

That's just one reason I am glad Appalachian is playing
Louisiana and Arkansas State this year. Yeah, may make
it easier on Georgia Southern not to play either one of
those, but you can't make any waves without being in the

I had zero respect for Georgia Southern and their triple option until they beat Florida. This is the Belt. Anything is possible. On paper we should run away with the title but I've learned a long time ago that doesn't mean squat. We are the best all around team in the Belt. We should win it all with ease. I wouldn't surprise me one bit of one of the new clubs shocks us all and ends up number one.

That's my biggest complaint of the schedule (and it's not a fair complaint, given the number of teams we have in conference).
Not a knock on Idaho, NMSU, or Georgia Southern, but I've been a casual fan of App State, and was looking forward to hosting them (or even traveling to Boone to catch a game... it's one of the few potential away games I am actually excited about going to for locale, not the game).

I agree with the idea. But you also have to beat the best. If had kept Monken and our former offense, I'd be wishing we had ArkState and UL on the schedule - just to prove or have it proved either way just were we stand. BUT - with changing from our tried and true system, we don't know what we are going to have. I'm thinking we are still going to be pretty good, but not nearly what we could have been, at least early until our guys get a year of this under their belt. So, I'm glad to not have those guys to worry about. Hoping it will help us to a better record (for fan support and media attention) and then lets see where we end up against those guys next year.

I have no read on how we will be this year. It was the height of stupidity to not hire Jasper, but we will see. I don't like what I am seeing out of spring so far.

Jasper didn't impress. He interviewed, but as some have said in the past he never really seemed to have "it" which would make him a good guy to be in charge. We couldn't afford him as an OC which is where he seems to be best placed.
What are you not happy about in particular? I'm serious cause I'm intrigued by how you're not happy with all the positive stuff I'm hearing. There's a lot of stuff that Coach Fritz is doing that should have been done a while ago.

I am sure of this NO LOSS and I say NO LOSS to Tx State or Ark State....of this I am sure.....the rest.....is why you play the games.......but dang it is a long time till the season isn't it...
