If I were to predict the finish right now I would go with:
1. Louisiana
2. Arkansas St.
3. South Alabama
4. Texas St.
5. ULM
6. Troy
7. Georgia Southern
8. Appalachian St.
9. Georgia St.
10. New Mexico St.
11. Idaho
5 bowl eligble teams

I'm starting to get sad with all the predictions showing app only over the basement teams, I really hope you are all wrong, not reaching for the ceiling but 4 5 6 spot is were I'm hoping we land

Quite honestly I don't know enough about the teams (other than Georgia Southern) to make any kind of educated guess. When we've played against FBS teams those matchups have typically been against the BCS conferences and never a full season of wear and tear vs a FBS schedule. One of the things I'm looking forward to is finding out just where we stand compared to where we need to be.

With App State it will come down to our late season away games with Louisiana and stAte.
Figured all SBC teams will think they will be better than us or GaSo. They might be right,
but doubt it. Going to be some in for a rude awakening. If not I will be really surprised.

I think Ga. Southern finishes above App if for no other reason we don't play Ark. St. and Louisiana and App plays both of them.

Texas State discovered this offseason that you CAN throw the ball past the line of scrimmage, turns out were not that bad at it. if our Juco DL can come in and be decent we are gunna be in good shape.

No way we finish 3rd but I admire you're enthusiasm and positivity. Georgia Southerm fans, I think you're in for a rude awakening dealing with a coaching transition, offense transition, and losing some of your star players (mainly McKinnon). With that said you are right we play a tougher conference schedule. I still expect us to make some improvement this year and I think we can take you guys based off of what you have left from last year vs. what we have. However with that being said I don't see us winning because we've won too many consecutive games in the rivalry and this is at southern. You guys are due for a win. I think we have the better team right now but I think you're team is and should be fed up and will put out for that game.

I don't think the offensive transition will be as tough as some think. We are still running an option offense, just out of a different formation. Yes we will pass more, but not a ton more. Losing McKinnon does suck, but we have plenty of guys with his speed and agility, and Ellison is a beast of an athlete, and he is getting a run for his money at QB.
I fully believe our offense will put up good numbers. But it is our defense that worries me.

I think that is a fair assessment. We also play you guys on the road as well. A 5th or 6th place finish would be a successful first season against an FBS schedule. Realistically, there is no way we finish 3rd. I would think 6th or 7th would be more in line with where we are compared to the rest of the SBC.

nope. same DC, but CWF is bringing in a different defensive philosophy, which should help.
I don't disagree with what you said at all. My remarks were more towards the transition of a new coach and offensive scheme. It's not like when BVG came in and wanted to run a totally pro style offense with triple option guys. That was a rough transition. I just don't see this transition in offensive schemes being too bad.

Believe we will have to have an upset against Louisiana or stAte to finish 3d, but believe we can do that.
Especially late in the season with slightly cooler temperatures.

We don't have much room to talk. We weren't very good until the end of the season, just got lucky playing elon and western carolina last, and then coming in hyped for the florida game.
