Calvi and Company have got recruiting in an awesome groove right now. This year's team is rebuilding a little but next year I expect a very strong USA club.

RE: Baseball NLI Signing - 1st Day - CajunAmos - 11-14-2013 02:23 PM

Cajuns are expected to sign 14-15, but I think are waiting on LOI's after local HS announcements. They have a couple of players from St Thomas More in Lafayette who announced locally (one a PG 9.5), but no announcements from the university as yet.

RE: Baseball NLI Signing - 1st Day - chiefsfan - 11-14-2013 03:12 PM

We signed players for baseball, but ASU traditionally does not release early signings until well after all the basketball signings have been digested.

RE: Baseball NLI Signing - 1st Day - CatMom - 11-14-2013 03:27 PM

Nothing on our website, either. I've been following theese recruits on Twitter and they announced they had and showed pics.

Also, one of our posters (who is a HS BsB coach) went to school (TXST) with our asst coach and gave up a few names, earlier, but a couple of those haven't inked their LOI's yet.

(the aforementioned poster may have played ball for TXST, also, but I'm not sure)

TROY and USA went head to head for 6 players this year... Both teams split. TROY got 3 and USA got the other 3

What positions do they play? I'd be interested to see if pitchers/hitters had different preferences.

I do not know... I was told by the Director of Baseball Operations. He couldn't tell me positions off hand.

I know of 4 players ASU has signed...but with no one really following ASU baseball recruiting, and ASU not bothering to release anything, I cant comment on the players.

If they have signed it's not a crime to post it. I followed commits and didn't say anything until they signed. TXST hasn't released anything either but these guys have put their John Hancock on their LOI. I think they're waiting for all 11 commits to have their signatory's turned in before they put anything official out.

Fair game now, in my book.

Its not that I don't want to post them...I just literally know their names.

I have no stats on these guys at all...that's what I am looking for. Signing a catcher out of Rogers, AR is great...but what makes him an ASU signee. Is he a good defender, how does he hit? Etc

Cause y'all are a football school they don't get into the specifics of the baseball program?

No...its just that our baseball program is slow about releasing this info. We had bios on recruits signed by both basketball teams, volleyball, even flipping bowling. Nothing on baseball.

We wont release our actual baseball schedule till January. Never mind that I have a copy of the schedule sitting on my desk. We're just not releasing it for some reason.

Its frustrating in a way.

First you said Troy and USA went head to head for 4 recruits and Troy got 3.
Then you said Troy and USA went head to head on 3 recruits and Troy got all 3.
Now you say we went head to head on 6 players and we split 3 to 3. Make up your mind. Unless you have names I don't believe you.

I must be smoking crack. Your right we went 3 for 3 according to the director of Baseball Ops.

I for some dumb reason thought we went head to head 6 times and split.
