for football only

Kennesaw State has accepted an invitation to join the Big South Conference, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
The Owls are joining as a football-only associate member for the 2015 season, the first year they will play the sport.
Kennesaw State will remain in the Atlantic Sun, which doesn’t offer football, for other sports.

Big South filling the holes. Monmouth for Stony Brook, Kennesaw St for VMI. Keeping the conference at 7 football members.
Still have to see if Liberty stays or gets an invite to the Sun Belt.

Explain the Pioneer Conference to me. Do they give scholarships at all? What are the chances of enticing some of those teams to move up to the BSC. Is FGCU moving forward with their plan to start FB?

As far as I know, they do not offer scholarships. Don't know if they give any type of financial aid like some of the other non scholarship conference did (before going the scholarship route).
